-NEWS- Staggs in strife again

The NRL's Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (aka Integrity Unit) is shit sifting Kotoni Stagg's sauced up antics at the Eatons Hill Hotel over Easter. They have requested CCTV footage hoping to indentify a woman who can help them stitch up Kotoni.

The story currently circulating alleges the NSWelshman was on the turps with his mates before heading to the Eatons Hill Hotel in search of some action. All fine until just before 3am when the Broncos centre mustered the courage to make his move on one of a gaggle of women. Staggs tried his signature move of extending his arm around her but this time it didn't work. The lady nightowl allegedly didn't care for Stagg's advance and asked him to keep his mitts to himself. Bouncers intervened and promptly turfed the highly eligible bachelor out on his ear. And that was the end of that. Until the NRL got wind of it.

So now Kotoni has run afoul of the code's moral guardians 3 times in 12 months. Not a good look for the player holding the entire club to ransom over his contract.

Top NRL Mullah Andrew Abdo said this of his last incident back in February:

“We have issued him with a $10,000 fine and most importantly, he has to complete an education course and he has to meet with me personally and the head of integrity, together with the club CEO, before he is permitted to play again. We want him to understand the impact of his words on people and the responsibility that players have to the community. His language is utterly unacceptable but this is about making sure he understands the impact of that and actually changes."

Education

“There are three components - the fine, the education course and making sure he sits down with us. Getting them to meet with me is not the silver bullet, but I want to explain to them the impact this has on their personal brand, on the club brand and on the game’s brand and then there are two ways they can go from there."

“This is important in relation to Kotoni which is why we want to meet with him before he returns to the field.”

Might be a blessing in disguise. A couple weeks in the Qld cup to iron out the kinks. He has had a lot of time out of first grade. Training is one thing, match fitness is another thing. But there are probably some kinks that can not be ironed out of Kationi...
I don't think he can play any level while suspended. He'll just have to do some more rehab and training.

Staggs:

"It’s really important for me to work hard at being a role model for all those kids who look up to me as an NRL player. I understand that I have to set a better example and think about the consequences of my actions for myself, my family, my club and for the game of rugby league."

“I’ve made mistakes but I’m committed to making sure that my behaviour is something I can be proud of in the future.”

Donuts:

“We’re committed to educating our players to help them understand the importance of their role and their place in the wider community. Kotoni wants to grow as a person and we want to provide him with the support and the education that can help him become the best role model that he aspires to be.”

Abdo (earlier):

“We want him to understand the impact of his words on people and the responsibility that players have to the community. His language is utterly unacceptable but this is about making sure he understands the impact of that and actually changes."

“Getting them to meet with me is not the silver bullet, but I want to explain to them the impact this has on their personal brand, on the club brand and on the game’s brand and then there are two ways they can go from there."

“Kotoni is an unbelievable athlete, he can be a superstar for many, many years or he can continually transgress and throw away his career. We want him to take the high road, so any opportunity we can take to help Kotoni, we want to do that. Ultimately, he has to be accountable and understand what he has done."

“We want him to be a superstar, but if he keeps making poor decisions, then there will be consequences for that and he would be throwing away a wonderful opportunity.”

they allowed Brent Naden (who tested positive to Cocaine after playing in a GF) to serve his ban in the off season ... the NRL is rigged
Dylan Walker assaulted a member of the public, was charged and convicted, sentenced to 18 month good behaviour. 1 week suspension, served while injured.

I'd love DD to make a statement on the website that the club is challenging the suspension. **** the NRL.

Yes, but they've tarred and feathered Israel Folau for saying us Drunks, Fornicators, Gamblers, Idolators and Bum Drillers will go to Hell if we don't repent. Kotoni's getting off lightly considering he said that bloke walked like a pillow biter.

Seriously, the Broncs need to put out a public pleas explain. We got walked over because we never speak up.
Abdo came out weeks ago saying that Staggs had been asked to meet with him and attend some form of self-sourced education program to prove he was serious about improving his behaviour. there’s a good chance that this was a big part of the suspension being delayed.

The club of course should’ve made him meet these obligations immediately and not when he finished recovering but we were too busy bending over and presenting ourselves to him begging for him to re-sign to do so.

I have said it a few times before but the club allowing itself to be fucked around with different rules and not speaking up about it is starting to feel like the club is also shitting on it's fans. It needed to happen years ago but somebody needs to speak up, we need to walk off the field, boycott events or just flat out say we are looking at starting our own competition and get Vince McMahon onboard or something.

Don’t disagree with the sentiment in here re: the NRL being a rort.

But that aside; gees Staggs is just plain dumb.

I want to make it clear, I am all for punishing offenders, particularly repeat offenders but we don’t have to look far for what appears to be double standards - another repeat offender for one week served while injured.

I don’t know if this is right or wrong regarding Staggs but it is a joke that one player can serve a suspension while injured and one can’t.

Let’s look at the radley case why don’t we
He got suspended for 2 games at the start of the year and was injured for the first 4 games anyways
Didn’t see him sit out when he was ready to be named
Once again double standards from the wankers that run the game
Clubs really should start looking at another super league

We just have him 700k to play a spine position without much basis to suggest he can do it to a high level. We are dumber.

yes, that is the figure the media settled on.

all that he has been offered is a shot at a spine position. not a guarantee

Massive overs if he turns out to be a centre and already on his last warning with NRL. He has to turn out to be top 3 or 4 5/8 for that to be any value and also keep his nose clean off the field.

Wait so did he actaully do anything illegal? Were the police involved or a formal complaint put in against him?

Or was it all just all Hearsay that the NRL caught whisper of?

Surely there has to be a line drawn over what things off the field the NRL can interfere with? I mean if the police weren't involved or no charger's laid what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
