Like most players who are trying to hit but have half their team hanging off them pulling them out of the fight.

He's still not tough, don't let his tatts fool you.

Parker needs more minutes, he would have got half the minutes Lillyman got and IMO that is not enough.

IMO shedding Gidley off the bench is something NSW need to persist with.

I thought Hannant was the 3rd best prop on the field by a fair stretch. Some of his extra efforts in defense were outstanding. He definitely belongs at this level.

AP: Your bench only has 1 front rower.
8. Scott
10. Civoniceva
11. Myles
12. Thaiday
13. Johnson

15. Harrison (can come on and play second row, lock, or any position in the backline basically in case of injury)
16. Taylor (can play forward and second row)
17. Hannant

wheres the problem with that? Myles can play forward as well, as can Thaiday. by my count, that gives that team scott, civoniceva, myles, thaiday, taylor and hannant all capable of playing prop.

i just think that if we have to have 2 workhorses in the team, it should be Johnson and Harrison instead of Parker and Harrison. Johnson stings in defence, Parker flops. Johnson might not be the best attacker, but 9 times out of 10 the play dies when it gets to Parker. i know he did some good things in attack last night, but lets not forget the dozen times every Broncos game where he gets it, crabs across field, spins a few times, and kills the play.

Why would you put Harrison on the bench after his performance last night?? I doubt we will make any changes with the exception of the hopeful inclusion of Hodges and Inglis.

That shows how much you underestimate Parker as a player, his the leading metre gainer at the Broncos this season and makes double what Johnson has made and a lot more then Harrison, his ahead of Beale who has been the fullback for the majority of the season and has the advantage of kick returns to boost his figure, Parker on the otherhand doesn't and he doesn't make them just from crab running. Parker not only provides you a workaholic in defence but does the workload of a prop when it comes to metregaining. Tackle wise Johnson makes more and can sting in tackles yes but to suggest Parker is only good at flopping really shows your underestimating his contributions defensively, he makes a lot of tackles that are critical. Attacking wise you will see Parker provide more especially in offloads then you will see from Johnson. I think this just shows you Queensland has lots of great depth in the backrow more then anything and thats just a shame for those who miss out.

Having said that though I tend to agree with you I wouldn't select him on the bench, his an 80 minute player just like Johnson is(I wouldn't select him either on that basis) and your really only going to get the best out of either by playing them either in the starting lineup or not at all, I really don't think Meninga provided Parker the opportunity by giving him such limited time in the game, not that I'm bagging Meninga's decision to go with Harrison he did an excellent job but if your going to play Parker off the bench at least use him for a real amount of time where his value is going to be effective, it's not like you can't have Thaiday playing prop forward and Parker coming into the secondrow.

Y'know I'd still prefer Parker over the likes of Costigan.

Although I thought Parker also played apart in the Jennings try - just held off Gallen way too long which put our defence in two minds.

Agreed. Harrison was great last night, dropping him to the bench would be stupid.

Johnson for Lillyman, Myles on the bench, Harrison to 2nd row, Johnson to lock

11. Thaiday
12. Harrison
13. Johnson

14. Cronk
15. Myles
16. Hannant
17. Parker

Parker doesn't deserve to be dropped.

Agree with the suggested changes for QLD (apart from dropping Parker for Johnson).

The Blues REALLY need to work on their kick chase. Plenty of times last night Soward or Pearce got a good kick away only for Billy to make an easy 20 metres or so on the kick return.

So what I'm hearing is that Tonga is next to no chance of being fit for the next Origin game. So I really hope Hodges (preferrably) and/or Inglis are definitely fit, because we are pretty light on for any other centres - Jack Reed for a debut?

Inglis is a chance of playing on Monday so you'd have to think he'll be right for Origin 2.

Good news, we will have plenty more points in us with Inglis in the side.

Morris just doesn't have the heart to play Origin. That blunder last night showed that. Perfect example of the extra effort - Yow Yeh rushing through even though he was a long shot at scoring, and Morris not even going for the ball even though he clearly had it.

And Pearce really needs creative players around him to do well. He just doesn't have that instinct and vision that players like Thurston, Cronk, Carney etc do.

At the end of the day, we are facing the best rugby league spine in HISTORY. Can anyone seriously name a better spine in history of rugby league than Slater, Thurston, Lockyer and Smith?

Actually Bennett was asked this question on The Originals the other night and with barely a second's thought said "Belcher, Lewis, Langer, Conescu"
