State Of Origin - General Discussion

Cotric is firming as an option for the other NSW wing spot.

The one thing Cotric has over Addo-Carr is that he is a stronger returner of the ball, he breaks a lot more tackles than Addo-Carr. He can still score tries and has plenty of speed.

Addo-Carr has 27 tackle breaks for the season.
Cotric has 47 tackle breaks.

Addo-Carr has him beat on tries, but there are whispers NSW are looking for someone that can also provide that option of being able to return the ball strongly.

NSW want an Oates.

Cotric is pretty close, genuine gun that bloke.

Stopped reading there... :notsureifserious:

Form often goes out the door in the Origin arena. The NSW pack has been far superior to ours on paper for many years now, and yet, we still spank them regularly on the paddock.

I stopped reading when he called the 25 year old Cordner “old “.

Find it a little strange that ofa is not being brought up in Queensland forward discussions by the media. Not saying he should be picked but surely his form this year warrants his name being brought up when you consider the injuries and our incredibly poor depth in the forwards.
You used to see a drop off of intensity when the bench came on if TPJ wasn't firing but ofa is a rock in the middle and super consistent, playing 50+ minutes every week too
I know we aren't in great form but we are the best performing Queensland team so our players being out of form can't be all down to that. It feels as though there is a bit of an anti broncos vibe in the maroons since game 1 last year because the rest of the team decided not to play until they got their mates in the team (hi c smith). Milf (injured but has now lost his spot) and Oates actually played pretty well yet were the first dropped...
I know form doesn't mean a lot going into origin, particularly when you have c smith guiding he forward pack around, but I'm worried our forward pack won't be up to it at all this year.

He should be in the mix. He's solid - he will get a run in the next few years, I'm sure.

QLD generally like to pick starters unless the bench forwards really offer a big impact. Ofa just comes in and does his job, he probably needs to prove himself as a starter against fresh forwards first. I do rate him, I think he's been really good since about midway through last year. Just needs an opportunity to show a bit more.

Maybe more of those plays where a centre/winger runs across field and dishes it up close to the line like Roberts last night. He usually looks pretty dangerous close to the line.

The NSW hooker role is out of Cook and McInnes, I reckon. All of the others are no chance.

If McInnes can put in a great performance against Smith this weekend, I think that puts him ahead.

It doesn't look like Arrow will be taking part in Game 1 even if the selectors wanted to pick him.

Poor bugger. If his club was acting in his best interest, they would have hooked him for a rest 2-3 weeks ago when he first did the back damage. The guy is tougher than nails, but you have to pull the reigns in blokes like that, for their own good.

I wonder if the worse case happened, if Arrow would have a case against the Titans?

Back injuries are just not something you ever take a chance with. Ever. And I think it's negligence to allow him to play when he's been having back spasms.

Brennan was on the radio this arvo saying that the injury is not related to the back spasms, that it's in a completely different area. Doesn't mean that the back issue didn't cause an overcompensation elsewhere that triggered the new injury though.

He said this morning it was the shifting of his ribs which damaged organs. The front on tackle caused it and he said 2 weeks out.

That hurts just hearing it.

McInnes and Sims playing themselves into a NSW jersey in this game.

I honestly thought McInnes was rubbish at the Rabbitohs, didn't think hooker was his right position. Or at least a quality hooker.
He's improved a lot since leaving.

I had this terrifying thought today, what if they pick roberts and the fox as the centre-wing combination.

Cameron Smith and Ben Hunt will know all of their weaknesses
