State Of Origin - General Discussion

Probably Game 1 team according to Channel 7 / Chris Garry -

1. Slater
2. Boyd/Oates
3. Inglis
4. Chambers
5. Gagai
6. Munster
7. Hunt
8. Scott
9. Smith (c)
10. Napa
11. Cooper
12. Kaufusi
13. McGuire

14. Morgan
15. Wallace
16. Hess/Papalii
17. Arrow

Pretty much picks itself aside from those bracketed ones anyway.
Whoa @Sproj, you must be some sort of seer!

Didn't he play NSW country last year?

I had a look and yeah he did. That's unfortunate.

He is in great form and I thought he would have been great in the halves or as a utility.

According to Hooper, Mitchell Moses is in front of Baloney to get the 7 with Keary at 6.
Must have found a way to really impress Fittler during the world cup.
Could they be that stupid?
Even though Maloney has the most missed tackles and high error rate he must be a certainty for the halves.

I still rate Moses tbh, he's been average this year by comparison to last, but he's still only 23. If they're looking to build something long-term he's a good option.

And another thing that the decision would have in it's favour is that even if he blows it in Game 1, they can just change course and pick Nathan Cleary for the last 2 games, who at that point will have 4 or so games under his belt and be primed to go.

I think they have to move on from Maloney as well tbh, he's getting on in age and is only getting worse defensively.

I'd agree with an opening pairing of -

6. Keary
7. Moses

With the potential to replace either of them in Game 2 with Cleary if they shit the bed.

He’s only saying it so Maloney doesn’t phone it in for the next few weeks. Wants them to work for it. There’s no way Moses makes it over Maloney

I wonder if Taylor has realised that if he'd returned to the Broncos he'd probably be in the mix for an origin gig this year.

What about James Segeyaro?

He has been good for the Sharks lately.

He would be a decent bench utility option, unfortunately for chico that's the one spot that we've got plenty of options, it'll likely just be whoever isn't the Halfback out of Hunt & Morgan, but it could also be Milford, DCE, Ponga, Mbye, etc.

I guess the one thing you can say about Moses is that he wouldn't part seas in defence like Baloney would.

Why based on this year. Structures are far from allowing someone to play to their best..

The Blues are reportedly considering selecting Andrew Fifita.

Tallis said on the call last night that the Napa binning is a refs conspiracy to ban him from Origin One...

Isn't that against the rules, if he plans on playing for Tonga?

It seems that because Tonga is a tier 2 nation, he remains eligible

So he is free to play games 1 and 3

I think it was Parker last night who said that under the same rule TPJ can also play for QLD

Why 1 and 3 but not 2?

EDIT: Oh is it because they are having a test on the same weekend as game 2?
