State Of Origin - General Discussion

Why 1 and 3 but not 2?

EDIT: Oh is it because they are having a test on the same weekend as game 2?

Yeah, the Pacific Test is the day before Game 2.

Last night, you would have to think Roberts is ahead of Mitchell.

Mitchell played well last night, but if I'm a selector I'm looking for a player that can produce in those big moments when the game is on the line and Mitchell couldn't. But Roberts did and he did it in spectacular fashion.

Why not both? They play different sides, both can be insane in attack, and the competition are either ball hogs (Dugan, Aitken) or just nowhere as good (Scott, Crocker, who else?)

I would have both in the side but it sounds like Curtis Scott has that left centre spot due to his combination with Addo-Carr. Which to me is a mistake because Mitchell is the better centre.

It sounds like it’s a race between Roberts, Mitchell and Aitken for the other centre spot.

Curtis Scott is pretty good.

Nevertheless, the NSW origin side should be all but set really:

1. Tedesco
2. Cotric
3. Roberts
4. Mitchell
5. Addo-Carr
6. Maloney
7. Cleary
8. Vaughn
9. McInness
10. Klemmer
11. Frizell
12. Cordner (c)
13. De Bellin

14. Cook
15. Campbell-Gillard
16. Graham
17. James/Sims/Crichton/Matterson (?)

No Turbobitch bros?

Oh right, throw JTurbo at lock and De Bellin on the bench. TTurbo will probably be there but in my opinion, if he is, it would have to be at the expense of Tedesco.

I'd select him ahead of Tedesco. There have been so many blown chances in Origin due to fullbacks or centres not passing the ball.

And if Tedesco has to be there, I still think Tom is at least better than Cotric on the wing.

I think Latrell Mitchell is a lock on the left side. Roberts and Aitken will fight it out for the right side. Hard to believe Scott is ahead of those two.

Prediction god here, just thought I'd share this snippet from a conversation with my old man just under 2 years ago, before Arrow had played a single game of NRL.

Obviously couldn't quite predict that we'd be stupid enough to let him leave the Broncos, but I reckon I'm looking alright for the Queensland part of it.

As opposed to your Jarrod Wallace prediction... :p

A week or 2 ago there was a conversation on 360 saying if the Cows season was done it was plausible that JT would return for one more game in game 3 if it's 1 all....

Thoughts?

I've got two trains of thought.

On the one hand, I would love to have him because it would increase our chances.

On the other, it's just going to hold back another half for another year and we'll be back to square one next series.

But I'm leaning more towards welcoming JT back.

None of the younger Qld halves are busting down the door, so I'm not concerned about holding anyone back. Losing Smith means we need as many of the old troops as possible to make the transition smoother.

The Blues are reportedly considering selecting Andrew Fifita.

so much for him being this noble person who is willing to sacrifice the extra cash to play for Tonga ... although he would miss origin 2 due to Tonga having a match around that time.

wouldn't him playing for the Blues then mean that should he get selected he would be required to play for Australia over Tonga ... I thought the rule change was that you could represent your tier 2 nation if "not selected" for your tier 1 nation, without it affecting your eligibility ... not that you could play for a tier 2 nation and play origin (effectively turning down Australian selection)

I reckon Queensland should pick Ash Taylor at 7 and look to the future. Get him in now and reap huge benefits in 2-3 years.
