Storm refusing to release Inglis....

Fucking *****.

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

I don't k now how they could possible still fit his 600k+ contract under the cap for next season. considering they have signed 5 or 6 players for next season [icon_non

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

They don't want to keep him they are just playing silly buggers.

Storm refusing to release Inglis....

Ridiculous situation. I don't understand why a club would pay court costs to defend a player on criminal charges and demand the player pay them back.

And if they did it'd be garnished off their salary you would think.

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

Good in a way that inglis was talking about going back there after 2 yrs and if they're going to do this kind of stuff might turn him off ever wanting to go back there.

Exactly - they don't actually want him, they just don't want the Broncos to have him.

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

IN-LIMBO Broncos recruit Greg Inglis will not be among the Storm squad that officially begins its 2011 NRL pre-season training campaign in Melbourne today.

But whether the superstar Brisbane signing will be allowed to instead join the six-time premiers next Monday remains in considerable doubt.

Inglis is caught in a contractual row with the Storm over disputed legal fees relating to an assault charge he was acquitted of in Victoria last year.

Melbourne continues to refuse to grant their high-profile departee an official release from his contract, which expires in 12 months.

It is believed the Storm's conflict with NRL auditor Ian Schubert concerns whether its portion of the legal fees, agreed in principle to be shared with Inglis, must be counted on the club's amended salary cap.

The Courier-Mail understands the figure in question could be as low as $35,000 of the total $113,000 in fees.

And while there is pressure on the NRL to avert a messy summer-long standoff, the league maintains it is an issue the two clubs must sort out between themselves, and is unlikely to roll over on the salary cap exemption demand.

The parties remain hopeful a resolution can be reached this week, but the Broncos plan for Inglis to begin training with their conditioning experts next week regardless, and remain highly confident the injured Test star will be a Bronco next season, if not next week.

"Greg wants to and we expect him to start training with the team on November 1," Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen said.

"But we won't put ourselves in a position where we can be fined in some fashion by the league.

"If he can't train with the club, and that would be very disappointing and I certainly hope it doesn't come to that, then we'll be wanting him to do something, somewhere under our supervision.

"We'd be giving his manager some training regime of what we want him to do while he can't come here."

In the absence of a Storm clearance today, Brisbane officials are expected to seek clarification from the NRL on the legalities of parading Inglis in Broncos colours next Monday. There are also potential landmines for Melbourne, who signed a number of players for 2011 in wake of Inglis's move north.

that bolded paragraph makes me wonder who actually has the leverage in this matter... because i'm sure that GI's manager would be aware that if the Storm kept GI, then they would knowingly be beeching the cap again next year (which is not a good thing for them to do, unless they liked getting the spoon this year [icon_razz1). So, all GI would have to do to is wait the Storm out.

the Storm would lose even more of their leverage if the NRL allows GI to train with the Broncos, even though he hasn't officially been released yet. eusa_think

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

Storm don't want to keep him, they're just being difficult.

When push comes to shove, they'll let him go.

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

Dear Melbourne Storm,
Next time, don't fecking cheat!
Love, Mrslong.

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

Inglis should rock up to Storm training - TECHNICALLY he is still a Storm player, then he can spy on them and their new recruits and plans for the coming season.

the only problem i can see with that is isn't the start of pre-season training usually fitness based. so he wouldn't see much.. and Gee said that the Broncos would give him a program that the club wants him to do if he can't train with us.

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

this def builds up the rivalry some more!

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

You'd think the cheats would want this to go as smooth as possible. Especially if they are expecting
GI to go back there in 2 years.
A team with so much $hit sticking to them should know better by now.

Re: Storm refusing to release Inglis....

I think this will definately make Inglis think twice when the Storm try to get him back in 2 years. They should cut their loses because all they are doing is ruining their chances, which is great for us.

GREG Inglis will start pre-season training with Brisbane on Monday after Melbourne Storm gave the go-ahead but he is not a Broncos yet.

Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen confirmed on the club website today that Melbourne Storm has given permission for the international centre to join the team in training but he is not a contracted player and cannot do promotional work for Brisbane.

**** the Storm. Just **** them.

In a way, I don't want the Storm to release him.

Then they will be over the cap again.
