Inglis no show at Broncos training
Posted November 1, 2010 10:08:00

Star recruit Greg Inglis was a no show at the Brisbane Broncos' first official NRL preseason training session on Monday.

A Broncos spokesman said Inglis, who is locked in a dispute with the Melbourne Storm, was doing rehabilitation work on his recently reconstructed shoulder at the club's Red Hill training complex instead of attending the team's session Queensland University.

The Broncos had said at the weekend that Inglis would be at the training session, leaving a large media contingent disappointed on Monday morning.

Despite agreeing terms with Brisbane, Inglis remains contracted to the Storm until a resolution is reached in a dispute over a legal bill incurred for the centre's successful defence of an assault charge last year.

Brisbane's other big name signing, prop Ben Hannant, made an appearance but was restricted in his training because of an ankle injury.

GI may not have been at UQ for the team training but the article did say he was at Red Hill doing his rehab work on his injured shoulder... this story is just another way to keep the issue of his release in the media IMO. it's a non issue, since he was actually doing some work with Broncos staff, it just happened to be the medical and rehab staff instead of the coaching staff

No, the report is a whinge from the media contingent who all arrived at UQ to get a sighting of Inglis, only to be disappointed.

Media don't like being let down.

It might be just me but I'm much more excited about Hannant joining us this year than Inglis. I wish there would be more coverage on that... As good as Inglis is our problem all this year was go forward, attack was never really a weakpoint. I'm sick to death of hearing firstly about those fktards in melbourne and secondly about Inglis' contract situation which has dragged out way too long.

Fk Hannant. a guy who has deserted us twice now. He better rip.

I'm much more excited to see the development of Hoffman, Gillett, Yow Yeh, McCullough & Hunt.

Not much worse than the guy who is all but directly say I don't want to be here but I have to be... Hannant had a choice and he came here, Inglis had no choice he had to leave Storm and we are just a two year stop gap.

Don't believe everything the media would like you to believe. GI had actually been looking for a way to get a release from the Storm for at least 12-18mths - the salary cap rort provided him with the out he was wanting.

Fancy telling us some more?

Nothing else to tell - Inglis wanted out from the Storm but he had a contract so couldn't leave (they wouldn't give him a release). They got busted for rorting, he finally saw the opportunity and took it.

Reliable source?

Why would he want to leave? (before the rorts)

I mean... obviously the best team at the time, etc etc

The Storm had everything going.

I'm not following the media at all on this. I'm only taking his word for it, in almost every interview he shows close to zero enthusiasm, heck I haven't even heard him give the good old "I'm excited to come here" cliché at least not with any real conviction..

It might be just his personality but even a slight bit of enthusiasm would be great. That being said I couldn't care less I'm just excited he's coming just his presence will boost the confidence of our young team, especially with him and Hodges on one side each, the potential is simply mouth-watering(beyond individual ability).

EDIT: Prayers been answered(Thank you buddah?) with two articles on Hannant. His effect on our forward pack will IMO be the best thing to happen to us in 2011, something we desperately missed this year.

EXTREMELY reliable source. As to the why? Who knows why footballers do anything? Maybe he was looking for a change of scenery, maybe he wanted a fresh challenge, maybe he hated living in Melbourne, maybe he knew the rort scandal was about to break. I mean Falou left, why wouldn't others want to leave as well?

But just don't go in the water, not with that Great White Shark out there. We all know from those kind of movies that the token black character is one of the first to get eaten.
