Stuart's outburst - disgraceful

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion etc etc. My problem with Sims was that he didn't run with any aggression, didn't tackle with any mongrel, and didn't do much work...he was Corey Parker without the work rate.

Well i see other things in them, and tbh, i rate corey as one of our best forwards. He is the only one that realises he has arms, and that they can be used to fend.

Would have agreed with you in 2007. He used it to good effect. For most of 2008 he just ran sideways, tried to fend and then just got creamed.

Meh, id never do it, and i dont have to like it. Itd be like asking me to support nsw. aint going to happen

I know where you are coming from, but I am one of those people who think Origin is a whole different idea, your user id suggests the same.
I'm not an international RL doom sayer, but I am the first in line to say I reckon playing for QLD is more desiring than playing for AUS, I want the international game to grow, but there is so much that has to be done for it to happen and it will be a long process though there are a few feasible ideas bouncing around it seems.

Premiership is the most rewarding but I am a QLDER through and through, Some people are just not into origin, which is fair enough, some think the concept is dead or dying *cough coxy cough* [icon_lol1. Some people just put their clubs first (with injuries and what not) - all valid reasons, but for some reason when it comes to Origin, my eyes go crazy, my heart pumps and everything Blue is the enemy, Love it to death, ever since I was a kid - I guess I'm a sucker for it.

Point is, the international game is a different ball game, no prizes for guessing it needs to grow if we as league fans want to take it seriously. What WB did is good for the RL community, and good for the game we love, no one can deny that.

A QLDER coaching NSW or vice versa? Now the day THAT happens, maybe, MAYBE I will accept that origin is no more, but between you and me, I don't think it will ever happen. (Though who knows? If the game gets too professional - but this is one concept I hope tradition stands)

I know the NRL and ARL are supposed to be different entities but can anyone explain to me how the Australian coach can rant at a ref (I havent seen the game and wont comment on the ref either way) and receive no penalty but an NRL coach who did the same would cop $10,000 fine.

Probably because Sticky didn't do in public?

It was pretty public - in the foyer of the hotel around lunch time, there were plenty of people around - just no TV cameras. And I actually think it's worse - most of the outbursts from the club coaches have come at the post-match press conference. While not condoning it, their passion would be still running at that time and often they have been 'baited' by a journo or 2. Stuart's outburst however came the following day, without provcation. Surely he'd have had time to have calmed down and been a lot more rational than immediately after the game.

Gould for IRLF Chairman. Love can **** off.

Agenda driven but true nevertheless.

The points raised are very valid and I have harped on about them all year. The Sydney media has all but buried this and the ARL haven't acted or spoken publically.

Disgraceful.

I particularly appreciated these sentiments...

Hell, Bennett lost his position as Australian coach because he dodged journalists at Brisbane airport when he returned home from a losing tour in England. He was slammed by the media for getting into his car and driving off without saying a word.

Maybe he would've been better served if he abused the media, branded the officials cheats and given the match referee a shoulder charge on his way out of the country.

and this little gem

Who do they think they're fooling?

Countless times over the years they've blazoned headlines demanding the sacking of individuals from various sports for myriad minor offences.

The Daily Astonisher has demanded these transgressors are punished - or at least face public humiliation.

When compared with Stuart's behaviour, the majority of these offences pale into insignificance.

But now one of their own is being slammed in the court of public opinion, the Daily Astonisher resembles the officious policeman controlling onlookers at the scene of accident, yelling out, "there's nothing going on here - everybody move on".

[eusa_clap.gi Not very often I applaud Phil Gould, but he gets my support on this one... [eusa_clap.gi

Phil Gould writes something that is correct and lucid? Either his ghost writer had a late night or Hell is freezing over right now.

Very smart man, unfortunately he does often fall into the trap of letting his agenda's write for him but as a general rule he is one of the smarter men writing about the sport.

This is still agenda driven. He doesn't like Sticky since he got frozen out of the Roosters. He may be right this time but if he and Stuart were still buddies then he certainly wouldn't have come out with this article.
