If we go over there and don’t abide by Visa conditions, we’d get jailed

Gov’t is stupid for giving him a visa in the first place. We are at $1M spent already and tomorrow’s hearing will be another $1M

Maybe they are using No win no pay lawyers.

In my experience, they way Visa tend to work (and not unique to us) is that they are automatically generated and come with a statement that you may need to provide documentation to prove your claims ... and Djokovic got caught without the correct documentation.

it would be damn near impossible to check every visa application with real people. the system would grind to a halt.

Visa is a visa. The name doesn't matter, just the number.

It's no different to getting a Visa that says you can travel to the USA, but you still have questions to answer that could get you sent home as soon as you land.

Did I read correctly that the reason his visa was rejected by Hawke was that he could inflame anti-vaccination sentiment? Wouldn't Novak's lawyers just have to point to the dopey current and ex members of the government: George Christiansen and Craig Kelly?

people in Australia would be more likely to listen to a sports star rather than a politician (especially those two idiots)

That's an opinion, a correct one, but it's a good point Fozz makes.

In positive news Kokkinakis won the Adelaide International last night. He played very well and seemed to get stronger every match.

True, Novak has a much broader base to appeal to but despite his drop kick attitude towards vaccination he's not out there fomenting opposition the way Kelly has been while still an MP (even if it's for the UAP not the LNP).

Yeah...it wouldn't have been the angle I would have used to mount my case on......

Again it really comes back to TA for this whole shitfight.

Are you vaccinated Novax?...No? Sorry then. you can play in the AO.

Done.

not a bad argument from the Government silk

talks about his anti-vax views even before a vaccinnation was available then throws in this bit

“His presence in Australia would present strongly his anti-vaccination views. The applicant also has some history of ignoring Covid-19 safety measures.

“Even when infected he undertook an interview and had received a positive test he undertook an interview and a photoshoot which included taking his mask off. The minister took the view his presence in Australia would encouraged others to emulate his (actions).”

I like the bit where they argued that they didn't need to consider the impact of him being booted, but had an argument for it anyway. Covering all bases there 🤣

The longer this goes on, the more I think he’ll get the decision overturned.

Government silk is using Serbia's low vax rates to demonstrate Djokovic's power as an anti-vax influencer

“Mr. Djokovic’s iconic status must be highest in Serbia...in Djokovic’s home country, it is estimated that under half of the country” is fully vaccinated.”
Mr Lloyd added Djokovic’s views are one thing and how they are publicly perceived another.

I love lawyer waffle.

Alan Shore and Denny Crane they are not
