The Anti-Bronco Conspiracy

I wholeheartedly agree with that and the Mrc/judiciary. But on field refs being corrupt is hogwash imo. Every single fan base is utterly convinced Ashley Klein hates them, when the fact is some most days he’s just simply not very good at his job.
Or he hates everyone and is so good at his job as to make it look like he is bad at his job. Like how he knows never to go full retard.

I do believe there is bias in refereeing, as has been admitted by allowing a pre-game check list of who to watch for whatever action they might make. They go into games looking at specific teams for things like holding teams down, Flegler might touch an opposition players head slightly, not playing the ball with their foot etc.. There is no way you can ref a fair match if you're per-determining how a team is going to play.

As everyone else is saying too, the NRL cares a lot about entertainment value and how they're perceived by the media. The fairytale grand finals occuring like five years in a row? The Panthers get this run they've been on, just as the AFL are trying to sell their Greater Western Sydney club? What a coincidence.. Don't get me started on how tight they are with the betting companies. It's suspicious at the very least, a full blown conspiracy at most. To rule it out, considering the greasy dorks who have run this competition in the past (and present) would be foolish.

So how does it work? There have been eight CEO’s since the start of the Broncos and three commission chairman. Do they pass on the secret file to each other?

Do they get like a branding?
How haven’t any of the eight said anything? Paying them?

163 refs in the NRL era? So 163 corrupt people all on the take!

What a web!

Referees are easily manipulated by a sheet of paper that says "Thomas J. Flegler always hits the oppositions head". They don't need to know about the conspiracy to be involved.

Paying them? Most of them are fans of other clubs that always hated the Broncos success. Watching the Broncos get dudded is all the payment they need.

I think these lessons were learnt with the Titans (and previously Crushers). Who were close to Brisbane, had only marginal success on entry to the competition, and did not draw fans like Brisbane.
Lessons learnt in creating a team with no history and plonking it in an area that has never seen a successful sporting franchise (Gold Coast). Crushers also had no identity and no history either.

Dolphins have both history and an identity. It didn't need the Broncos to struggle to get a fanbase. People either loved or hated the Broncos. The ones that hated the Broncos now have another club to support.

If there are fans who loved the Broncos and then jumped ship to the Dolphins or Titans then it wasn't anything to do with anti Broncos conspiracy, it was to do with our shitty management, poor player retention and fucking HORRIBLE player attitude. Boyd's gender reveal straight after a fucking horrible loss was a good example in my friend circle of jumping ship.

Nothing to do with the NRL.

Yes, also.

Perhaps. But also, why take the risk, when you can also increase the appeal?

Oh, God. Why did you have to remind me of that mess? However, the rule changes were timely and seemed to affect us far greater than others.

I'd never say nothing.

The line between conspiracy and simple incompetence is a bit blurry. Think the Billy Slater “drop kick” try or the Matt Gillett “off side” sin binning.

No, the conspiracy has only existed since we sucked. When we were a top 4 side everything was above board…

This one was peek nrl ref
Try apparently coates never grounded it in our in goal
Peak IMO is still the Slater "drop kick" try, but this was up there. Rule changes on the fly are the ones that grind my gears. The Annesley justifications afterwards are the salt in the wound.
There was a try scores against us where Thaiday was held in at the scrum, and I think Cowboys scored, play on.
Probably the issue with the "Broncos conspiracy" is simply because it's that we're looking for it. I don't doubt it happens in other games, we just have had some real clangers.

Like Peter Beattie- which club was his team?

I mean, they do get paid, and it is a company...

Why would they say anything? Their reputation is at stake, and they are just doing their job. I doubt there is any firm agenda.

Though I also don't think it goes back so far into the history of the NRL.

Furthermore, there was recent reporting on referee factions and some investigation into Sutton and his actions as Ref boss. If one considers refereeing as a job that requires selection, there is already a system in place to weed out refs who don't follow orders.

Why anyone would want to be a ref is beyond me. I actually have a lot of respect for the blokes to put up with the amount of crap they have to. It would want to be a well-paid job.

I dont think there is an anti Broncos agenda, but i do think at certain times there are absolutley teams that always seem to get all the decisions and i dont think its down to luck.
This. Certain teams absolutely get favours, and for the last few years we haven't been one of them.

See, there's really no point debating because you're not being serious if you think that. Was in fact two years in a row they were shafted in the finals after Foran's knock on.

Every team gets screwed.

I'll leave it there.

No. They were shafted on that one occasion, because a stupid ref thought "benefit of the doubt" meant that any possible try, even if 99% chance of a no-try, was to be awarded, when the BOD rule was for genuine 50:50's only.

The next year they were "shafted" by an extra tackle in the first 10 minutes?

The year after it was a legit forward pass (or knock on, I can't remember), that Thurston even challenged, they went to the video ref and it was correctly ruled on.

They were shafted once and managed to sook a premiership out of it.
