The Ashes 2010-2011

Hughes has been dumped from the selection panel prior to the Ashes. There's still 3 other muppets and a coach there who should be given the arse as well, but Merv is a good start.

It is not enough.... Now we have Boonie and Cox who have both shown there favoritism towards there respective States. Hopefully Chappell can turn the selections around.

I agree, the panel really needs a complete shakeout. Cox is irrelevant in such an important position and Boonie is just Boonie. The selections have stunk of man-love for too long - I think Hilditch and Ponting should cop some blame for that as well.

I personally think Punter has a lot to answer for. As good as he is as a batsmen his captaincy is woeful and he never hesitates in playing favourites.

He isn't a very good example to any of the young guys, he is the first to sledge and whinge and always gets involved in heated situations when he should be mature enough to set a much better example.

he also has hairy arms and has a face that is so easy to hate...

MARCUS NORTH has emerged as a shock contender for Australia's Test captaincy as Michael Clarke's popularity within the side continues to wane following a bitter tour of India.

....

Some players were angered by Clarke's suggestions that Hussey and Bollinger had put cash before country by playing in the Champions League instead of preparing in Mohali for the opening Test. In fact, both players were forced by CA to participate in the Twenty20 tournament, which is part-owned by CA.

Clarke had said: ''You don't have to play IPL. You don't have to play Champions League. For me, personally, right now it is about representing my country, and every game I can play for Australia, I will do that.

''That's my priority. If, as an individual player, you are tired or your body needs some rest, you need to make that commitment outside of international cricket. You need to, maybe, play less in the IPL or play less in the Champions League.''

With Greg Chappell indicating Australia would play only three quicks in Brisbane, NSW left-armer Doug Bollinger and Victorian Peter Siddle are likely to find themselves jostling for the final paceman's berth.

....

Siddle is highly rated within the Australian dressing room for his big heart and ability to bowl long spells.

Chief selector Andrew Hilditch, after picking Siddle to play in the current matches against Sri Lanka, said last week that he was an integral part of Australia's plans for the Ashes. ''Peter is a key bowler in the squad in all forms of the game and is ready to take his place,'' Hilditch said.

North a potential captain. Siddle, of all people, challenging a fit or unfit Bollinger.

What a friggen circus.

Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue.

Ryan Harris took 5/72 in the first innings, god I hope they pick him!

They better... Dougie looks to be still injured so he will be lucky to get a game at the Gabba.

I'm gonna be at the gabba!!
COME ON AUSSIE COME ON! COME ON! COME ON AUSSIE COME ON!

Let's all remember WHY we hate the OLD ENEMY - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umlb32qvrRg [icon_lol1. "..And Stumped Him!"

Been a sh^t last couple of series! But all that doesn't matter, THIS is the one that matters~!

I'm goin in me test whites, and trying to find a baggy green to wear, this is my 1st ever test match, and cricket match LIVE at a stadium, so i'm obviously stoked.

From all reports in recent days, Harris looks very likely to be in the squad. The selectors may also name an extended squad to please the critics, but obviously they'll only pick their pets in the final XI.

If I had my way, my team for the Gabba would be:

1. Watson
2. Katich
3. Ponting
4. Khawaja (or Smith/Ronald at No. 6 in his place)
5. Clarke
6. Hussey
7. Haddin
8. Johnson
9. Hilfenhaus
10. Harris
11. Bollinger

I'd go for more specialists for the Gabba - that's assuming Clarke and Katich are OK to share the spinning duties if some spin is even needed. Otherwise, I'd have Smith or even a slow-medium all-rounder like Ronald come in for Khawaja.

Blokes on their last warning to perfom or get cut for the 2nd Test would be Huss and Johnson. Their replacements would be Ferguson (or Hughes if he gets his act together) and one of the NSW quicks.

I'd consider permanently ending Hauritz's role as our main spinner as well in favour of someone more attacking, but that won't happen. Hopefully he can at least keep it tight.

I'd thank North for his infrequent contributions to the team, wish him all the best for the rest of his career with WA and kindly show him the door before he saves himself with another random century or 1-for with the ball.

If Peter Siddle is selected I will lose my shit.

I'd be picking the same side as you JW but leaving Clarke at 4, he is good enough to bat there and will do a good job.

Harris' knee has pulled up a bit dodgy and says he's pretty much no chance of being able to line up in the First Test.

Figgen Siddle gets a free pass again. It'll be half-trackers galore.
