The Ashes 2010-2011

Well, Huss is bordering on a century now, so in typical fashion the selectors will feel vindicated. If only blokes like Hughes were afforded such epic amounts of time to get their shit sorted.

Hussey has had 2 years of poor form while Hughes had 2 games... Now Hussey will no doubt have the summer to hopefully score runs. I still don't think we can carry both hussey and North in the same middle order.

Johnson has found some form too. A century and a 5 wicket haul in the same match

I would love it if smith played ahead of north or hussey. Siddle better not be picked ahead of bollinger

Katich
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Haddin
Smith
Johnson
Doherty
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger

Would be my 11.

I'd pick the same.. icon_thumbs_u

Pretty good that

Haddin just needs to have some pride in his wicket and not throw it away. Wow we could have a bit of batting depth with smith and mitch in the lower order.

Betcha siddle gets in tho

Pretty sure Smith is in as cover for North or Hussey, Doherty will play. They select Siddle at there own peril.

If Siddle is picked, fails to gets wickets at the Gabba and ever plays a Test for Australia again (sans injuries) then that will be the cherry on top as far as the ineptitude of the selectors go.

Paine is not the best keeper in australia. Hartley is the best by along way imo. Paine would do a superb job in the tests but these selectors are hopeless and haddin is the incumbent so he was always in the team.

True, and you can't really fault the selectors for going for the best batsmen/keeper available atm. It's not like we have a bowling attack that requires an Ian Healy. Plus our batting is struggling in the middle order so much we need al the extra runs we can get.

Well rather than picking a poor keeper who can bat, how about we fix the middle order? Get rid of Hussey and North for a start.

Paine may not be the best keeper in the country but he is far from poor behind the stumps. You are preaching to the converted if you are asking me if we need to fix the middle order, but it's not as if anyone is really sticking their hand up for selection either.

Cameron White would probably be the best option atm, and that isn't saying a whole lot.

Cameron White can play but I think Steven Smith is already a better bat than him and a lot younger so I would have Smith in the team well ahead of White. Khawaja is a logical replacement for Hussey and Hughes will replace Katich when he retires.

I'm far from sold on Smith's batting, his bowling is ok and he gets enough turn on the ball to have potential.

you don't make 4 centuries in a season as a 20 year old if you are rubbish...

I'm not bagging Paine. I think he's a very good keeper. Much MUCH better than Brad "Bye Bye" Haddin.

Australian Domestic cricket is very weak at the moment, which is half the reason the international team is going so poorly IMO.

There are a $hit load of quality kids coming through but won't be ready for a while yet. Our fast bowling stocks will be awesome in a few years. Batting on the other hand is pathetic, I don't see many good young openers about either...
