The Dolphins discussion

"But what really sealed the deal was Tripp taking such a personal interest in the negotiations and the Storm king pin being prepared to offer a four-year $4 million deal."

Redcliffe offering 1.4mx4 years, Storm 1mx4 years.

Now I can't speak for everyone but there's not many people in this world who would choose the offer that is 1.6m dollars less, unless it isn't really that much less and you had a billionaire sports betting owner to help.

the offers could be closer than speculated.

Brent Read said Melbournes new offer was UPWARDS of $1.1 million a year

Well at least that will put pressure on their cap which is a good thing.

Can't compete with teams that are paying Dylan Edwards 500k... need to get them to pay nearer their market rate, 300k unders for Munster (150k after tax) is not that amazing considering you get to play finals footy every year.. shows the compounding advantage of having success on the field however.

Best for the Dolpins to get a dads army to hold the line for a few years while they develop from within, which is kind of how it's shaping, will be interesting to see if they can pull it off and become a consistent top 8 team, which seems more likely than what happened with the crushers and has always happened with GC teams.

Bennett blowing up deluxe as expected lol

Munster wasn’t even avoidable for an offer for another month

Tbh, i think being a bit old school Wayne is more annoyed Munster didnt have the decency to make the call himself, which i actually agree with him with. I think its just common courtesy to do that sort of thing. Reading the article though, i wouldnt exactly say Wayne was furious!

Now that circus is out of the way for them they should just concentrate on balancing their team out better for 2024 now. Plenty of off contract talent for that year in positions they need. Nanai and Robson from the Cowboys. Fatrell from Souths. Burton from the Doggies. Moses and Brown from the Eels. Herbie from us. Critchon, Toó, Leniu and Martin from the Grubs. Fifita from the Titans and probably Doueihi from the Tigers. Maybe even the likes or Raimen or Garrick.

Not very old school to drag it out in the media either

1150 sounds more believable, with a 1.4m competing offer.

So Munster 1150, Grant 1m, paps 850k,, Hughes 1m that's 4m on 4 players which leaves them with 6m for the remaining 26 players, or 230 each.

Coates 500k
Welch 600k
Olam 400k

So that's another 1.5 down to 4.5 for the remaining 23 players, or 190k each.

And there's no way Nelson isn't on big money, or even Howarth who signed 5 years before playing first grade.

The numbers certainly don't add up

I know a bloke, he's a soon to be Dolphins fan and he goes on and on "we got Isaako, Milford, Nikorima, etc".. amazing what the perception is for people that don't actively watch the sport.

Exclusive vision of Storm players passing by Tripp leaving training.

I dunno. I think people with no common courtesy have always been called out on it for as long as i can remember.

Yep, apparently he ducked a phone call from Wayne about a month ago and never returned the call. Hasn't spoken to him since. I get that managers are a thing but when you think you have a decent relationship with someone...

He pays a manager a damned good wage to make that phone call. Bennett can't talk about common courtesy or manning up while he lied to an entire club and fanbase on multiple occasions across multiple tenures.

Not all those contracts are active now.

Doesnt make it any better really. Two wrongs dont make a right.

Despite him doing some odd things, Wayne has done a hell of a lot of good for his players and former players and people just dont get to see it. Dont really get the hate for old Wayne.

Two wrongs? Munster hasn't wronged him, Wayne clearly knows he isn't going there, and as said, Munster has employed a person to do those things he doesn't wish to do.

I'm not over Wayne twice destabalising our club and using the media to do so, because he was cranky at the bosses. Props to him for the work he does and has done, but that's why I don't like the dude, and it's absolutely not unreasonable for Broncos fans to feel the same, or worse.

we actually don't know how much that leaves them. the NRL hasn't decided the salary cap for next year yet.

p.s. how fucking amateur is that. we're in the post season, teams are almost completely set roster-wise for next season and they still don't know how much they are permitted to pay their players. the salary cap should be set for at least 5 years in advance AT ALL TIMES. but then again this NRL administration doesn't know what the word professional means
