The mental fortitude this side has had for the past month has been piss poor. We should have dished up a response against the Sharks after that poor showing against the Titans, didn't. We should have dished up a response after getting bashed by Royce Hunt and Tom Hazelton, didn't.

We are so far off the pace and our draw only gets tougher from here.

Even when we were losing last year, we were losing because we were playing too frantic trying to score in every set. We still made the opposition work for their win. You can forgive a loss if you at least make the opposition work hard for a win, that's not the case this year. The players are showing the signs that they have given up on this year.

Coach has no answers, a dark 5-10 period awaits. Unless big coaching staff changers are made. Players will pop smoke and I wouldn’t blame them.

We have played over half the season so far without Reynolds and probably about the same without Walsh as well. Couple that with Haas and Staggs playing busted, that is a lot of firepower either out or underperforming due to injury. Our depth is injured even worse than our first team, there isn't much Kevvie can do really.

Kevvie obviously needs to find a way to get more out of them but he can’t hold the ball for them.

Unless Walsh becomes the best player we've ever seen and can do everything in attack at age 23, then next year is really our last geniune shot at a title until Black comes along.

EDIT: as a bonus, without Arey in the side we are going to go through a similar origin rut every single season. The bulk of our cap is going to be lost to it without Arey in the side to steer the depth players through. It'd be lovely if the NRL put Origin on stand alone weeks or gave clubs salary cap relief for losing players to it.

Walsh is actually that guy but our forward pack will need to be good enough to lay the platform..

Unfortunately injuries, a shortened pre-season (which included the stupid Vegas trip) and maybe even a tad of complacency have conspired against us this season.

The biggest problem injury-wise is we have spent long periods of time with neither Walsh nor Reynolds in the side. we've been able to cover the loss of one of those guys ... but not both at the same time.

we did the right thing by Capewell, but it left us short in the backrow (another position that has been cursed this season). Piakura is an immensely talented player, but wasn't ready to play big minutes for a full NRL season.

Losing Herbie also has really hurt us, IMO. while Mariner killed it early in the season, he's another i'm not sure was ready for the rigors of a full NRL season.
