The old dogs hating on Bennett

If "being a good bloke" was the only prerequisite to success in life we would still be living in caves; I'm getting sick and tired of hearing that same line thrown out in every single media piece covering this. Hook hasn't gotten the results that the club and its fans expect, so see ya later.

Me too.

apparently Phil Murphy (20% owner) is pissed off with the way things went down. although it may just be that he wasn't informed some direct quotes from him:

Error Page

I can relate to him having a tizzy about players not showing pride in the jersey. But he said himself that he's not there to control things, so why would they discuss these issues with him? Yes, maybe a courtesy call if they have time, but normally these press releases are issued moments after the deed has been done. And you'd be insane to think they'd keep him in the loop about ifs, buts and maybes.

You have a 20% stake at the club, and you're not informed of the dealings being done in back rooms by the majority shareholders... only to be presented with a consummated fact you had no say in. Yeah, I'd be pissed too!

And the rumour is that he's not even close to being the only board member who's pretty pissed about this!

Yeah I tipped you off about this yesterday. It's not a rumour.

But that's the nature of boards, isn't it? There'll rarely be unanimous support for controversial decisions at that level.

20% which equates to $4 million at that! If I was him I'd be pissed too.

Yes, but the decisions are normally made at the board table, not in the back alley...

Actually, you're wrong here P. Decisions like this are made in the back room, a la the ALP - which is also probably where Murdoch keeps his private line.

Then there's the back door you use to get into the back room, and the coach's box....
