Beale wasn't at fault.

It's the fullback's responsibility to take those bombs. He had his eyes on the ball and at the last second Lockyer changed direction to move in front of Hornby and when he did that, he moved into the path of Beale.

There were two Dragons players waiting for the ball. Beale couldn't take the risk.

I think the difference is someone with a brain in their head doesn't go knees up in the face of the best player in the team. You are entitled to yours, though.

Worst case scenario - Locky drops it backwards, and a non-merkin fullback cleans it up.

Locky moves into the path of Beale at the last second to block Hornby. There were several Dragons players around and Beale did his job by not taking the risk so he jumped for it. He had his eyes on the ball the entire time.

Sometimes he would contest them, mostly he wouldn't. He would be there to make it more difficult for the chasers and allow his fullback more room. But this isn't QLD or Australia we're talking about.

Mine is Beale should have looked up, seen Locky there and let him take it. Which I think he would have done comfortably.

To be fair, that's a great take by a fullback any day of the week. Locky got to close and should have had more faith in his teammate.

It sucks but you cant blame beale for doing his job just because it resulted in a freak accident to our best player.

Why is the responsibility all on Beale?

When a kick goes up down the middle, it's the fullback's responsibility to go for the ball.. It's everyone else's responsibility to not get in his way.

As I said, Beale could have communicated more effectively, albeit it's difficult to know for sure given the lack of on-field audio.

Our opinions don't matter - your argument is based purely on a hypothetical which for all we know could have resulted in the Broncos losing that game.

But if you saw any other player you would have done exactly what Beale did? Which was a textbook take? Like I could get the criticism if he came out recklessly like Blair on McCullough with a flying boot, but he just did his job. If you had to criticise anyone in that situation it's Lockyer's overzealous escort.

I don't like Beale. I hold this incident against him. Maybe it's irrational, but I don't feel it is.

Some people here don't hold the GF loss against Hunt either - I do. I think there is clear evidence for these positions, but I accept that others disagree based on the same evidence.
