Q-CUP The tragic tale of Corey Oates

I don’t think it matters how good Corey plays, he isn’t worth 500k and should not be given any reason to take up his player option next season.

Isaako will be a good enough wing option next season and Corey’s 500k can go toward a decent fullback.

Like @Kimlo said, that's the dilemma.

If Walters is playing him there to get him in to form, he obviously sees him as a future possibility to return. If he does warrant a return to NRL, with the PO for 2022 on decent money, the club might be able to say "hey, we reckon you're worth maybe $350k a season, with next year being $500k, we'll balance it out and give you a 2 year extension after that for $350k 2023 and then $200k 2024. There is value if he comes good.

If Walters is playing him there with no intention of keeping him long-term, you can hope that he gets the shits, sees 2 full years out of NRL as too big a blow to his future usefulness, he may ask for a hard release, or at least a release with us only paying a small amount. If it backfires, he'll just happily play Q-Cup for 2 years and take home the $1 million, it will leave him with little exposure to get a new contract with an NRL team, but a million is a million.

Oates would be a gun at the Storm, he is exactly what they need.

I'd take a direct trade for Addo Carr.
