I'd just like to say that I don't really appreciate Wayne coming out and saying that the Rabbitohs are "a boring team, and won't win the premiership"

Keep it to yourself mate, watching the Knights is like counting sheep this season.

but all that you come back with is "he won 6 premierships for us so that proves hes the best now" lol.

noone is judging his entire career on the knights failures - what we are, and rightly can be, judging him on is his current ability. people at the top of their field don't always stay at the top of their field. he was the best a long time ago, but he is not now. he hasnt worked any sort of miracles at any club for well over a decade. he can do well when he has a very good roster, like most coaches, but he cant take a run of the mill roster and make them great. citing premierships that he won 20 years ago doesnt help your argument about how hes great now​.

Blaming things like the roster, a player getting injured, and the owner having financial problems is making excuses, especially when you're using those things as a way of absolving Bennett from any blame. It's the very definition of making excuses.

I have literally never said "he has won 6 premierships for us so that proves he is the best now" or anything even remotely similar..

I just hope the team rallies around their coach whom they publicly supported a few weeks ago. I just hope Barba tears it up at 5/8 and I just hope we make the finals with the roster we have.

I wasn't following this story too closely, but one point that could possibly be made in Bennett's defence is that certain signings seemed to be made against his will.

For instance, wasn't their a story in 2011 that he didn't want to sign Kade Snowden on a big money contract but was coaxed into it by the board?

I could have the story muddled up but I seem to recall there being a bit of a drama about it.

I also wonder if he had much say in Kurt Gidley signing a 4 season deal back in 2011? Kurt was the first player signed after Tinkler took over and it was announced not longer after Wayne jumped on board. In my view, it was one of the biggest mistakes they made and one Bennett has had to live with.

there were certainly some signings likely made against his will ... like Snowden, and you are correct about him having a problem with the size of the Snowden contract. but those signings were few and far between. more than 95% of the roster he was responsible (with the exceptions of Snowden (signed before Bennett) and probably Gidley)

There isn't a coach in the competition who would be satisfied with their roster.

You can't get them all but it's not like it's an excuse that Bennett could use exclusively.

You might not ever be thrilled with your roster but at the very least you could make a go of it. Bennett just seemed to sign everyone waiting for their pension cheque. Made little effort to develop their juniors.

Also on the subject of Gidley, I always though he played his best club footy at fullback. Something that WB refused to do because he had to find a spot for his precious Darius. Again, a decision that was entirely his.

Given he also brought along old man Scott and you seriously have to question WB's adaptability as a coach. You have to roll with the punches and sticking so stubbornly to people like Boyd and Scott at the expense of what you already have is not good adaptability.

Still, he's better than Griffin and so long as he doesn't bulk up Milford and ruin him then he's already done more for us than Griffin. To be fair our roster is a lot better too. WB doesn't need to be a genius IMO to get this team challenging. As long as we do that's good enough for now. But gee, if Boyd comes and plays a spinal position I'll be pissed.

How many players in league would have been willing to play for the Knights?

They are like Raiders, they had the money, but no one wants anything to do with them.
