OFFICIAL Titans get their man with Fifita signing three-year deal

Angus Crichton got payed 2.7m over 3 years from the best team in the comp - the roosters.

What we don't know is what Fifita would have taken from the Broncos. Maybe he wouldve stayed with an atleast competitive offer. Unfortunately we were so far away from the market pricing due to our cap management we will never know.

Fifita would be thinking everyone is calling me a star, going to be the best back rower in the game, unstoppable strike weapon and the titans now show me they believe that and the broncos have signed all these pathetic players before focusing on me.

Defend this pathetic organisation if you want but they have driven this team into the ground and when you look at the roster and our juniors I don't see us coming out of it soon.
Plenty of other things to piss and moan about this isn't one of them imo

The thing is you can’t replace him and that is what hurts most, you can swap Glenn for Jackson, you could swap graham for matterson, sims for kaufusi etc. but there is no replacement for Fifita

why do we need to replace him?
what is with the mind set of some that we must have superstars in every position.

there is no doubt this hurts us short term but we are shit with him regardless the way we are playing atm.

long term though this is blessing it frees up cap space for us to re-evaluate were to invest most of our money in,

ill throw another name at you that proves my point jt2. amazing player but is he really worth what he is being paid judging by what the cowboys dish up most weeks. in about 5 more years i guarantee we wont be seeing clubs throw these insane amounts of money at players in these types of positions. they will all look at similar clubs that have done the same and realise it just never pays off in the long run

it dumbfounds me that any one here suggests we should of matched the titans offer. that sort of money is insane for a player in that position. it will not win the titans a premiership. broncos offer was more then reasonable imo.

i admit i to am upset over the management of this club over the last few years but in this case i think any one with half a brain would say broncos have done the right thin.

i want the broncos to get back to being roosters ,storm ,raiders esk and you do not see these teams offering insane amounts of money to backrowers. (roosters may be different but they dont operate under the same salary cap)

i wish u all the best david but if history is anything to go by this wont end well for you (see hunt and tayler for other players who were offered overs)

All those teams you mentioned went through some lulls but what they had were competent coaches and recruitment strategies. I just can’t see the broncos on the same level at the moment. We have had the same unsuccessful brand of football for years now and nothing has changed since Bennett left.

The usual suspects claim the reason Fifita "really quit the Broncos" isn't just because he was "facing a $1 million sacrifice over three years to remain loyal" but because of the "hammer-blow to player morale at the Broncos and the fear he will not improve as a player under the coaching of Seibold." That he's aware of "internal ructions with a number of players unhappy in Brisbane’s current environment, their morale taking another hit against the Storm, which represented their eighth loss in nine games."

They say several players are "
struggling with Seibold’s coaching style" and that Fifita chose Holbrook over Seibold for "better mentoring."

Michael Ennis says:

“It’s an enormous blow for the Broncos. I can’t remember a player of that significance leaving the Brisbane Broncos and to go to their little brother is a real kick in the teeth for where Brisbane is at at the moment. You look at the forward pack the Titans are going to have next year and all of a sudden young halfbacks are going to want to go there, quality dummy halves will want to go there and outside backs.”

Paul White, whose wife put on fancy dinners for David and Gwen:

"There has been significant interest in David from a number of other NRL clubs and a range of sizeable contract offers for David to consider. We have been in ongoing discussions, across more than 20 meetings, as we sought to find a way to keep David at the Broncos, where he has played some fantastic football in recent years. At the same time we wanted to ensure we did not go beyond what was responsible for the good of the club and playing list as a whole."

“At the end of the day it was a really tough decision for a young man to make and we respect the choice that David has made. It’s disappointing to see David depart but we look forward to him returning to the field to finish out the season with the Broncos. The Broncos are now in a strong position to look to the future to pursue other player recruitment opportunities.”

They had a proper coach. They chose the “superstar” and fired the coach.

RIP King Henry’s career

but because of the "hammer-blow to player morale at the Broncos and the fear he will not improve as a player under the coaching of Seibold."
Well it just took another hammer blow with their best player and mate leaving while they are stuck here.
Gonna be a long 9 weeks.

you want a repeat of Fifita then....let it run until his last year......how did that work out....

We could still be very shit by then believe me.....a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush...

Resign Haas now..!

got a lot of time for James...but he is a incredible injury risk....

But if that contract amount is correct....probably worth the roll of the dice for Raiders..

But...you know, they cant blame anyone if he only plays 10 times during that contract either...
I hear what you are saying but how are we certain his form will be good in three or four years (Milford/ Boyd). The Bronx need to use the money to get a 5/8, hooker or fullback and the rest of the team can be filled out with hard working honest types.

Would have been more mismanagement to try and match the titans offer.

100%. I would have loved to keep him but the offer we put forward was reasonable. The fact David went with the biggest offer is also reasonable.

Look at the roosters and storm. To be dominant over a long period of time; you need an elite fullback, half or hooker (it would be nice to have 2) and a good (not necessarily a superstar) supporting cast.

It isn't more important. A prop is a simple positon. Play 20 mins run straight, tackle, wrestle. Backrowers are an offensive threat. Look at contracts to see value.
Lolo plays in the middle the over rated hack... lauzaraus was the change we needed to bring us a premiership the dud.... beetson is an undeserving immortal as well I'm sure... fifita is the more talented in my eyes too but there's no way he beats Haas in work ethic or in importance. The greatest second rower of all time will not be worth a million a year at the moment, fifita is currently the 3rd best playing now. Potentially the best... so was dave Taylor. Tim Smith had among the greatest debut seasons ever. Owen craigie anyone? Ben hunt, ash Taylor, how's that planning out. Pay over on potential is not what good teams do. He will win them the odd game but they need to be in the game to do that, I don't see fifita taking the hard runs out of trouble to lift the team, or directing the team through strategic kicks and field position to pull them back into the game. It is RIDICULOUS what the titans paid. I'd be pissed if they got anywhere near it. It will take a a year for the anti-broncos fan club to get over their hard one of Broncos hate but it has a far greater chance of ending in tears for the titans...

1 great signing can turn this place around. Look at Harry Grant and the Tigers. Without him they are bottom 4, with him they are pushing the finals. Losing Fifita is a blessing in disguise. We are clearing the dead wood out next year (Seibold included) - we will grow in 2021 and be back in the finals 2022.

Its how the Gold Coast regrouped and a factor in getting David.
Re grouped? This is what I'm laughing about with titans and anti Broncos fans.
The titans are on the same points as us and have had some shocking performances to this season. This is our worst year in our entire history and even the staunchest Broncos hater knows it won't last. People are acting like the titans are top of the table. Joke of a club with 3 fans hahaha

Will take longer than a year because this roster is losing next year aswell.
