How many of the young guys on this forum would have had the amount of councilling , responsible behaviour lectures, lectures on drinking and problems associated with it, code of conduct that footy players get.

Nobody has said they are not allowed to have fun. Anyone can have fun without disrespect and harming others. Not all sportspeople can handle their high profile nor their alcohol.
Can't handle your alcohol then don't overindulge or go to places where you know you will get into trouble.

robbie mustoe: how do you know one or more of these players hasn't been warned for past incidents that haven't been made public?

That's the thing, we don't know. These guys may be walking a fine line already for all we know!

bianc: not often we agree, but I'm with you here. Not that I think they have necessarily harmed anyone here, other than their own reputation and that of their employer (case is still being investigated regarding any sexual assault), they've been counselled repeatedly on how they are expected to behave and what is and isn't acceptable conduct.

I doubt the code of conduct says "thou shalt not bonk girl in public toilet" but I bet they can argue that's not acceptable.

I was talking in the context of people on these boards wanting these players sacked. I have no knowledge of any of the players receiving cautions therefore I can only assume that they have not been warned. People were shouting "sack the grubs" without even considering whether they were already walking a fine line as you say.

I'm not denying that what they did was stupid, it clearly was. It was also morally questionable in the eyes of many. But stupidity and morally questionable behaviour is part of what being a young male is all about. Bottom line, if these guys were to get sacked over this incident and no criminal charges are made, it would be an utter disgrace.

General ob there Coxy. "Anyone can have fun without hurting or disrespecting others' meaning anyone even on this forum.
Have a son who is a terrible drunk. Shames me and his wife to see him as he is not the same person.(it hurt her so he stopped going over the limit) yet I also have a son-in-law who I wouldn't know if he were about to fall over drunk.
These guys must by now know what their drinking capacity is. Just as any of us do.
I think they just don't give a stuff,.

LOLZ.

What a circle or arguement......Coxy and co. think the behaviour is wrong (won't admit that it very much may not have been illegal and is only morally wrong by THEIR morale compassess), robbie mustoe (and myself) & co. try and make the other people see the bigger picture.

FTR, I love this statement the best....even you would be LOL'ing right now Coxy;

Just because you, Hammo etc feel that way, and clearly these particular footballers, doesn't mean the "vast majority" feel the same way.

So, by the nature of this quote, you are agreeing that just because Coxy etc feel this behaviour is morally wrong, doesn't mean the "vast majority" feel the same way??????

Bhahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahha

This is like arguing Liberal vs Labor, Coke vs Pepsi, XBOX vs Playstation.

I think the point you miss, repeatedly, is that what you or I think is irrelevant. It's the standards that the club and its sponsors expect from its players that should determine how these blokes behave off the field.

And if they can't be trusted to make their own minds up, they should be treated like military people or school children and ORDERED to behave or face the sack/expulsion/court martial.

And what you miss, repeatedly, is that your (and many) real anger about this whole week, is leveled at the club. As "the standards the club and its sponsers expect, were not broken.

The club should have set some standards, not expected a bunch of kids to set them.

It's akin o the parents going away for a weekend, leaving the kids alone for the very first time. The kids are 15 and you decide they need to learn responsibility, so you don't get a babysitter. However, you think you don't need to say, "we trust you don't have a party.", as you have faith in them.

You come home and the kids have had a party.

Who is to blame? You for failing to set standards or the kids?

Ah! I see. I don't have a copy of the Broncos' code of conduct with me so I'm unable to say definitively that the Broncos players are or aren't in breach of that.

But it seems you're completely informed and have found they have no case to answer.

Can you please post the code of conduct for the benefit of all of us ignorants who seem to wrongly think the code of conduct would relate to alcohol consumption and public behaviour?

Thanks in advance!

I never said I "love" the behaviour. I'm 23 and have been in the same relationship for 6 years. I am just capable of looking at the bigger picture. People I know, around my age, act in a similar manner to these guys. Sure, the Broncos receive more sexual offers because of who they are but I don't see that as being particularly relevant. The point is that what they are doing is not largely different to the actions of a very reasonable proportion of the rest of their demographic within society. It is not reasonable of people like yourself to carry on like they should adhere to a completely different moral code to the rest of society. Keep in mind that several people on these boards were crying for these guys to lose their jobs the other day, regardless of whether any illegalities had been committed.

But I wonder how much of the behaviour of other guys you know in acting this way is influenced by the fact that they see their "heroes" or other high profile people doing it (either first hand or in the media). The behaviour of high profile people can easily influence the behaviour of other people.

Yes I can. Check your PM.

Oh, that's right....the club hasn't found them inbreach of conduct.

1 + 1 = 2 dufous.

*of course, if the club finds them in breach later on, then I will change my tune. Until then, you're rubber and I'm glue and the Broncos involved are just kids on the piss who made an non-criminal mistake.

No returns.

I can't speak for robbie mustoe, but for my friends, I'd say little to none. Most of my mates are GayFL fans. Also, think post-game Caxton St....how many of the "dicks" around are actually in Broncos merchandise? Not many. Most of the "slick" looking guys, with the tight shirts etc are the ones being idiots. They seem to like nothing other than themselves and chasing skirts.

Yes, because every day this week the Broncos have said they're waiting the outcome of the police investigation before making any comment about their stance regarding the players and any possible code of conduct issues.

I'm saying, based on previous incidents where players have been let go for a lot less than this, that they will face SOME censure. Though I doubt it'll be a sacking.

And it seems whenever that's said, knuckledraggers like you and robbie come out becrying "woe is me, it's not fair, they're just kids".

Broncos may do nothing. You might be right. But given the public outcry they've got no choice but to manage that publicly.

I bow to thee Coxy...the man so much more cultural evolved then a "knuckledragger" like myself...yet who is always the first to name call and throw insults [eusa_doh [eusa_doh [eusa_doh

You're not "Huge" are you? eusa_think

What you are failing to acknowledge Hammo is that whilst Coxy and Co have decried the behaviour, they have not called for their sacking at this stage - pending the completion of the investigation and according to either the law or the club's Code of Conduct or both (whichever is applicable once all the facts are known). And that whilst we personally might find the behaviour morally reprehensible and not something we would ever do, if it was not illegal then each to their own. (Paraphrasing on your behalf here Coxy). However these players also know when they CHOOSE to pursue a professional football career they are (rightly or wrongly) going to be held up to a higher standard of behaviour by the the general public - don't like it, choose another career.

I understand what coxy is saying, I just want him to ADMIT that the players have broken nothing and deserve the benefit of the doubt, if not the total support of their club (and fans), Innocent until proven guilty.

I would also have liked to see Coxy not compare his personal attitude and morals to a professional footballer's, if not another person's.

However, being the more cultural evolved creature he is, this should't have be a problem.

Yeah, what Flutterby said, but Hammo's too dumb to get it so he'll go on a rant about how it's every 21-year-old's right to have a 4-way in the toilets and so footballers should be allowed to, and the Broncos and NRL should get over it :P

I won't admit they haven't broken anything until it's PROVEN they haven't broken anything.

If the Broncos, at the conclusion of the police investigation, say they have done nothing against the code of conduct, then so be it. That's the end of it for me. Though I would then expect the Broncos to change their code of conduct, because quite simply if the reaction this week is anything to go by, then clearly the code of conduct is out of touch with society's attitude to it.

So you won't admit they haven't, yet you openly slander them like they have?

Please don't ever do jury duty....for the sake of the country.
