It would be that I am not so optimistic to think he will slide right into the fullback role in the hardest league in the world and be a standout performer.

He may be good but he's not THAT good, nobody is. Go back and look at the careers of some of the all time greats, rarely do they ever slot straight into the 1/6/7/9 and dominate, it takes time to get them there. I think us as fans desperately want someone like Selwyn to be that good of a player and I am sure he will be but it won't be until he's feeling comfortable in the NRL.

He was solid, just looked a little behind the pace on my eye test. I could definitely be wrong. I feel he was a bit stronger for the dogs last year.

Yeah agreed I thought he looked a little below the form he showed for the dogs last year.

It may have been the rain or just some experience from his end knowing that he's lost entire seasons 2-3 times already due to injuries before the season started. He also played 40mins which is a pretty decent stint for a trial, that's the kind of minutes I would expect from him in the season proper.

He might be looking to work his way into the season as he feels better with his body.

My preference has been that he comes off the bench, even for the first rounds with Flegs suspended.

He may not be able to mix it as well with the starting props nowadays, but I reckon he would be great value coming off the bench after the 20min onslaught and be able to mix it with tired forwards and the younger inexperienced guys.

Huge, we all make mistakes. Some more than others, I tend to make a fair amount, when I get carried away. I have told you why in the past. Sometimes I just don't have the time to reread over everything I write. If you want to say something to me you can easily DM me, instead of derailing the discussions.

He held the middle well with his defense and communication. I think once he was gone, the Máori forwards started to really dominate the middle third. He only had six runs or something but they all came with ten odd meters attached.
