He did well for wynnum, do doubt ... but he didn't do the things fans will expect him to in the NRL.

He built his fullback play in the ISC on his strong running game, not a play making game.

People continually complain about Herbies lack of playmaking/passing ... but Cobbo has shown even less in that department.

Right now he should be playing a position he knows well rather than trying learn a relatively new position (especially one as critical as fullback) and continue his development into an NRL player
just like Herbie

The issue I have with that is that if he sinks, there's no bringing him back like it never happened, that's not how confidence works.

Sure but so far, at Q Cup level and even in the All Stars last week, every time he has played at fullback, he's done well. So what is the reason for the pessimism? This is a genuine question.

It seems like (given the action he was shown last year) Cobbo is considered 'ready for first grade' and his reserve grade apprenticeship is over.

If he's considered a fullback option then I'd be giving him all the possible pre-season reps in the 1 jersey to find his feet there - whether we want to play him there this season or not.

Personally, I think, letting him develop at centre then transition is a sensible strategy. Fullback is a complicated, nuanced position with many factors and elements and a huge amount of pressure (especially in a team with 1 / 4 spine positions settled). For now, let the kid tear it up in the centres getting quality ball from one of the best 7's in the business as he gets used to playing against men. Then the transition to fullback will be easier. If he was a small body then maybe the #1 would be more appropriate, but he's certainly not a defensive liability.

I think he's wasted on the wing - playing in the centres puts him closer to the middle of the field where he would be if he becomes a fullback - he can roam both sides of the field and learn to link with his halves... this sort of experience is all translatable to playing custodian down the line, and although playing wing would give him the chance to work on his kick returns, I think developing comfort ball playing / running in centre field is a better proposition for the young fella.

Excited to see what he can do.

Give this man a beer!

get a voodoo doll of patty. he'll stfu in no time.

Thats clearly not going to work. You have to remember i have a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people who would do that kind of thing to Patty.

4-6wks for Tesi

Surely you give Cobbo his shot, he’s played more FB than Mead or Isaako recently.
Exactly. While Nui is out, give the Cobb a wee taste! (he's been a school captain - surely it won't break him if he doesn't nail it instantly!). Bring in experience in the meantime in the backline with perhaps Lee @ centre/Farnworth to wing?, or whatever. Maybe Oates will fire in the trials and demand a wing spot? (stop laughing).

No offence to the ever-reliable Meady. He will be solid, if not perhaps spectacular? Who knows what might happen between now and round 1 as to the final makeup. More injuries, the C word (thou shalt not mention its name) might raise its ugly head again... (knock)

I understand your fears but there’s just no way Boyd comes out of retirement..

Has anyone posted the Titans squad yet?

Should be a training run

Thanks, I’d seen it. I was asking for others before commenting that it’ll be like a training session. Absolute nobodies
