I'm going to clutch at this straw:

In the final trial of 2006, we were effectively written off after Melbourne belted us 50-4. Then in round 2 we beat Melbourne and we beat the for a second time in the GF.

Seems like as good a straw to clutch to, as any.

We lost to Melbourne twice during the home and away season in 2006 by 10-4 and 18-12 but beat them in the one that matters most. In round 2 that year we beat Cronulla 16-12 at Shark Park.

Thanks once again for taking Todd Lowsie off us. He stacks up the tackle stats but the reality is he is mostly ineffective.

Dont kick yourselves too hard Broncos fans. The Warriors were in great form. Young players really stepped up as well as our new recruits.

That being said, your offensive tactics were simply horrible. Really painful to watch. It was like they were just going through the motions. Your forwards were mostly poor bar the obvious players that always give it their all. The majority though had the penetration of a one inch dick at the line. Your rookie halves only compounded the lack of go forward. No team will ever be any good with the engine room in such disarray. Your defence behind the ruck area was pathetic. We were marching through at will. You over compensated at times but that only left your edges exposed. A weakness the Warriors exploited mercilessly.

TBH this is probably the worst Broncos lineup I have ever seen and Ive been a fan of the team since they entered the competition. I know your teams having injury concerns but where on earth is your guys NYC graduates? Broncos have always been able to pull world class halves, forwards and wingers out of their ass and totally own the competition with brute and speed. Whats happening with your development? Recruitment? Whats going on?

Forget about the result of this trial. This is the real issue facing your club. This one result will only become the norm if it isn't addressed ASAP. Urgently!

Broncos are always a very competitive team but the success of the club is slowly fading and the dynasty that Bennett built up is all but gone. I honestly hope things improve but you almost get the sense it will get worse before it gets better.

Sorry if this is seen as trolling. Only the opinion of someone from the outside looking in and a fan who is use to disappointment from his own team year in year out...

No your not trolling, but mate we know all this, I'm not really sure what you want us to say. Everyone on here realises how diabolical this team is and I don't think there is a sane person that would even try to argue that this isn't the worst broncos team ever. We know we have shit halves, we know our management over the last five years have completely dropped the ball recruitment and development wise, we know griffin has a game plan that is currently employed by most u12s coaches, so I just don't know what to say.

Don't get me wrong I'm not having a go, but your preaching to the converted

The key to not letting them get a massive roll on is to not give them any room by moving up in defence.

we don give our defense time to move up. ball carriers are allowed to play the ball too quickly. we have no starch in our tackling. no grunt stopping the ball runner, let alone pushing them back. we seem unable to wrestle at all, and no matter whether you like it or hate it, you need to fkn do it.

small guys are fine if they are trevor gillmeister. its like our guys have spent the offseason learning traditional tackling around the midriff which is useless in todays games of offloads offloads offloads and support play

It's not the big part that is important,it's the combination of big and mean. In the Broncos in recent years ,who hurts ? As I keep saying,it's easy to go up the middle if it doesn't hurt. The opposition will pour through if they keep running into double inner springs. We are soft and not feared anymore. I'm terribly sad about it, knowing it was coming and hating the inevitability of it. We are also rans and it can be traced back to one terrible decision. The day he went away.

One guy who could hit was Teo and he was deemed surplus to needs.

the warriors seem to have an endless supply of big guys who run hard and hit hard. maybe we need to steal two or three of them.

Not recent, but the last I can recall is Sims. He and Kenny against the Dragons that night were brutal.

Peter Ryan was somebody that could hit and hit hard. His tackle on David Peachey in the Super League Grand Final was one of the game's highlights.

I think we forgot it was a 13-man game and only played 9; right? How else can there be gaps in the centre of the park, with 2-man overlaps on the wing/s?

Same problems as last year. No wrapping up of the ball, they were offloading at will. Not coming forward in defence. No wrestle, so no time for the line to reset, so we were always on the back foot. No clue in attack, none whatsoever. No fast players, speed is power and a headfuck for the opposition, and we just don't have it.

There seemed to be a lack of trust - there was at least 2 tries IIRC where there was a lack of faith in the inside man to make his tackle, so the outer defender stayed in - and was promptly caught too far inside.

Positives: Thaiday ran strongly, I thought he was pretty good. Thought Copley was solid. Weren't stuffed after 5 minutes, so the conditioning is definitely improved. Think that's about it. I'm reserving my judgement til the season proper, but at this point I feel that it's gonna be a fucking long season with not a great deal to look forward to, and that makes me very sad.

I'll ask the same thing as I did last year: WTF are they doing at training? Attack is woeful so it can't be that. Defence is just as bad, so it's not defence. So......what ARE they doing? Laps? Pushups? FMD we expect so much better than that rabble. Very disappointing.

I think they do 2 hour sesion of thumb wrestling followed by some hopscotch to improve agility. On Thursdays they play a solid hour of bullrush.

Don't forget 45 minutes of video making in the locker room to please their instagram followers
I think there is a video session for the bullrush game too. That's how Hook will decide on our halves for round 1.

No no no. They said it was a four horse race for the five eighth position and took it literally. They took four horses and named them The Hoff, The Red Hill Barba, Strass Release and Niko the Younger. The winner gets the jersey.

Holy crap, this security guard took a real shine to the streaker in the trial game. That's as close to gay porn at a rugby league match as you would ever want to see.
