Trial results

Yes, read the thread, we were commenting first on the Broncos having guys like Teo in the team and that it can't possibly be an Under 20 game :P

its Under 20 tries i think so Teo fits :P

Don't like it that Glenn is trialling in the centres, hopefully it's not a sign of things to come because I want him in the #13 this year. I am not saying Glenn wouldn't go well in the centres, as I am sure he would do a great job, but I think he's better used in the back row, both this year and long term.

Couldn't agree more, Jeb. I understand that Ivan has to really try a few different things with Hodgo out for so long, but Glenn's long-term spot is in the lock position for sure icon_thumbs_u

imo it shows that Ivan has some trust in Glenn. Seems to be his "go to" guy like Stagg and Berrigan to Benny.

Next Captain?

While I'd be very happy to see Glenn in the backrow (lock) I think he could just as easily slot into the centres during Hodges absence from which he could benefit from the experience of being in the run on side and really I don't think a shortterm run there would hurt him, it certainly didn't hurt Darren Smith's or Tonie Carroll's development. One thing I will say though is from the consistency and effort he put in last season, he deserves to be in the starting 13, be that in the backs or the forwards.

Man... Toopi must be worth like 60k or there abouts now... even if he managed to get a contract....

If you think about it you can't really blame players trying to earn that mega buck contract when they can pull that dough... it is pretty cut throat...

Apparently McGuire was great in a bad side and he put on a monstrous hit on Brown.

Did anyone go who could give us a bit of a low down?

Smith looked to be commanding the team around well, though he made a few errors.

Ben Hunt looked a bit timid to me, he played a bit of hooker too.

Corey Norman was awesome off the bench.

Norman goes alright from what I saw of him last season and would be my early season tip to come through from the 20's into NRL this year.

The footy is back, happy days !!!!!

Personally, after watching that game, Tim Smith belongs in the team, somewhere. His energy and guidance was outstanding and he took risks that Wallace normally wouldn't, deft kicks and some nice cut out balls that put points on the board.

Side for ballymore:

1.Corey Norman
2.Denan Kemp
3.Israel Folau
4.Alex Glenn
5.Steve Michaels
6.Ben Hunt
7.Tim Smith
8.Nick Kenny
9.Andrew McCullough
10.Ashton Sims
11.Lagi Setu
12.Sam Thaiday
13.Corey Parker

14.Scott Anderson
15.Ben Te’o
16.Josh McGuire
17.Gerard Beale
18.Matt Gillett
