Updated - Lockyer rules himself out of Manly match

@Beads, that would be awesome haha, imagine 10+ cars going with him the whole way.

Forget the cars, we can hire a bus.

Something like this

All the Broncos players and staff all drive in separate cars and then all the cars join together and turn into a giant robot....that looks like Darren Lockyer.

i dont think manly will intentionally target lockyer illegally, but.. having said that, nearly every tackle nowadays involves the tacklers getting up and using the attackers head as leverage. i doubt that will attract the refs attention, yet it will cause immense pain to locky

i wonder if they did drive him what sort of schedule they'd take. ie leave early in the morning and miss the day while travelling, or leave at night time and sleep through-out the trip

Hook was at the QCup player of the year awards tonight and said Locky's pain will peak on Wednesday as well as the swelling. Wednesday looks to be d-day!

My final decision.... No chance. I'll be stunned if he plays.

Locky's mummy was on Today this morning. She said she doesn't know if he's playing but he's looking good and not in any pain. He must've taken a loooot of painkillers!

^^^ This.

The more I think about it the more I think it's just not worth the risk. Not reinjury, medically I'm sure it's fine if the doctors say so, but the risk that he gets out there and can't deal with the pain. I know he's tough, arguably the toughest bloke I've seen play the game, but I just can't imagine putting aside throbbing pain in your face to play footy.

If he doubts he can cope with it, I can guarantee he won't risk leaving the team a man short during the game.

Locky also eluded in his book how he was kidding himself when he tried coming back before his knee was completely healed after he injured it in '07. I'm sure he's learnt from that and that whatever decision he makes will be the correct one.

In related news, I had a dream last night that this was all a massive gee up and Hook reveals on game day that he was never really injured and never even had surgery!!!

Now that would be the mother of all smokescreens! LOL

What time do they train today??? Anyone going to watch and suss it out??

Thought he was intending to train today?

I bet every sports news photographer in the country will be at Red Hill trying to get a photo of the cheek! :P

Anyone know what time???

I'm with rock. Comparing the knee is Luke comparing apples and oranges. He could have done real permanant damage to his knee, from all reports, this isn't the case with his face.
