Updated - Lockyer rules himself out of Manly match

Pretty happy a decision has been made early so the guys can get on with it. Does anyone know if Corey Norman travelled if he did I wouldn't be surprised if the Gillett to 6 is a smokescreen to keep pressure off him. Either way we have the form and talent to win in a low scoring tight affair, I will be so gutted for Lockyer if he ends on an injury rather than getting a crack at a Grand Final.

Any word on who is captain for this game? Straight away I thought Parker but then it'd be weird with Sammy being C next year....
But then Corey has filled in admirably this year...

he is such a liability and there has been so many tries scored against us because of him this year

LOL. I don't mean to cause offence(or maybe I do) but you have no idea.

I'm happy with Gillett at 6 and think we can win without Lockyer. I hope Parker is captain.

Yeah. What he forget to mention was the amount of tries he's set up which outweighs the amount he has let in. And for the record, Lockyer hasn't actually let in many tries this year, his defence is very good.

Oh and the amount of tries he SAVES. Did he forget that too?

My money is on him being a troll. How can anyone call him a liability and rate us better off without him. He's one of the best players to ever play the game. ANY team would have him if he wanted to play on next year, even at 35 years old.

Sadly, there are no real positives in Lockyer's absence when his greatest strength was to to give the team shape & structure in defence and attack. I'm sure Hook will be working hard to compensate for this. Seems to me more that Thaiday, Parker, Wallace and Hodges really need to step up in leadership rather than whether or not Gillett or whoever cut it at 5/8.

Fingers crossed. For mine, this is Thaiday's 1st test as captain, whether he is formally named that or not.

After much thought, I recon Wallace will play the game mainly on the right, as he will have Thaiday, Hodges and Yow Yeh as the teams major attacking weapons. Whoever the 5/8 end up as, I recon they will stick to the left and try and play a simple pass/running game with the likes of Glenn/Reed/Teo/Gillett.

This to me makes much sense, because if we go in with a "hot potato" attitude we will get thumped. Simple as that.

someone posted that he is in sydney to be on the game plan on thursday night.

put it this way i dont think he will be filming anything if he was actually going to play.

coincidence me thinks.

theres certainly no ideal solution to the 6 problem. i will have faith in whatever hook does (ie gillett).

maybe its all to keep the media's eyes off hunt playing the 6/halves role for the majority of the game.
