Payne since his spat a couple of weeks back hasn't caused any more noise/headaches (as far as I am aware). On field nothing has changed with him.
We are all very quick to forget that Payne carried this team for the past 3 seasons.
We know what we get from him, sure he has carried on/had his issues and Im not dismissing any of that.
Fifi can't even get himself back into the origin squad.

For <600k I'd happily welcome Fifita back as there probably isn't too much to lose but if we are talking a straight swap or same money as Payne, its a no.

Every player signs a contract for money. Its how they make their living. Isn't Payne's problem the money he isnt getting so you cant really have a go at Fifita for trying to get the best deal for himself ( while off contract i might add ) when Payne has tried to break his contract because he feels he deserves more than anyone else at the club. And what exactly did he carry us to, a wooden spoon? a 14th place finish? He played well enough, as did others, but he didnt actually have a massive influence on our displays.

And its a bit rich bringing up what we did for Fifita when we also backed a bloke who has done plenty more wrong as a Bronco than Fifita did.

I disagree with you here. If Staggs was as consistent as Herbie, absolutely, but he's not, he is more like like Fifi, amazing one game, quiet the next 3. For someone on 6 or 700k, you want them consistent. Herbie would be on no where near that, way more value for money.

For my point of view, Fifita never wanted to leave, he rejected the Titans at least twice that was reported and God knows how many other times through his agent. It wasn't until they just kept upping their offer to crazy numbers as well as the pressure of Meninga and Tallis constantly telling him to sign up with all the promises in the world that made him buckle. Hell, i even remember the Matty Johns show at the time all telling him to take the money and sign. Who did we have on our side of the fence convincing him to stay?...Anthony fucking Seibold and Paul fucking White.
