Look, I don't like Scott either...but the Broncos never looked like winning premiership number 1, until we bought Gilly... someone you just don't want to run at, and eats cement for breakfast. Sometimes you have to buy in some starch. All this talk on the forums about what our backline will be, neglects that this Brisbane team is currently soft as featherdusters in a lot of the forwards.

I don't think Boyd will be coming and I don't think we can afford his contract either. We would need to lose a few players. When Boyd followed Bennett both the Dragons and Knights had crap fullbacks.

If it was easier to do I'd like to go back and find the posts on here where a large group of people declared he would win a premiership at Newcastle, but the search on this site works about 0.005% of the time.

I'll be the first to admit if i'm wrong and happily take all of the "told ya so's" with a big smile on my face, if:

1. Bennett turns us into a well-drilled, consistent premiership threat
2. doesn't bring the likes of Mason, Beau Scott or even Boyd to the club
3. When he retires in 3 years, doesn't leave the club in a hole.

Thing is, with Milford coming next year and Hunt turning into one of the games best halves, Bennett is going to reap the rewards of Hook's work this year. Then all the accolades will be heaped on bennett. Just the addition of milford alone is a massive gain, yet any improvement will simply be put down to bennett. Its pathetic but predictable

Actually it was both and gilly was regarded as an outstanding pickup to toughen up what was regarded as an inexperienced and soft forward pack and that he did.

I reckon Bennett in a lot of ways has really put himself in a pretty risky situation. If the Broncos don't win a premiership, you can rest assured the knives will be out and if he doesn't make the finals, dear god I'd hate to be modding this forum (oh wait...).

I think most fans knew that 2015 was going to be the Broncos year once Milford signaled his intentions of playing for the Raiders this season and while I still think there is plenty of work to be done before the Broncos can really count themselves as competition favourites they'll be in a much better spot (touch wood) than they are now.

Sort of like 2011 really.

I'd like to think most of us will give Hook his credit he will have deserved for developing a large group of the players but Bennett will still be due credit as well. Winning a premiership isn't easy no matter what players you have. I do think if Bennett doesn't have us in the top 4 over his 3 year contract and at least win a premiership he has failed and it will ruin his legacy. I hope the plan is for Wayne to walk away after this 3 year contract.
