Also the dragons are going to be filthy, every dragons fan I know wanted him back so hard. Ha!

You wanted Hook gone and he is.

Yes I wanted him gone, but not in the manner Bennett managed it.

I would have preferred it to happen in the open, not the cloak & dagger crap Bennett went on with by ringing Lachlan Murdoch etc.

It's probably why I am not successful in life, because I rate integrity & morals highly, something that Bennett has lost over the years.

The simple fact of the matter is the club have signed the ONLY real alternative option to Griffin that was available and it just so happened to be a legend of our club.

We all wanted Griffin gone. That cannot be denied. He was a run of the mill coach at NRL level, he had no idea how to operate a bench or how to manage his playing group to get the most out of it. He led the club to be mediocre with a capital M, and that is not who the Brisbane Broncos are. I'm watching the press conference right now and Hook seems like a great bloke and I'm sure he'll find a role at another desperate club like Cronulla or Wests, but he is not up to it when it comes to the expectations our club demands.

We all know Wayne Bennett is, and with the playing group he is inheriting, a premiership in the next couple of years is a very likely result, and what else do we need apart from that? Bennett can win our 7th premiership, ride off into the sunset leaving Walters in charge and we should all be grateful for it.

“He has always shown the mark of his character and integrity in his ability to make difficult decisions in the face of adversity and for the betterment of the club as a whole.

Lol.

So much this.

I actually quite liked Hook and don't think he deserved to get shafted like this.

My opinion of Bennett has dropped severely.

Got a bloke sacked so he can get a fat pay cheque and move closer to home.

Bit of a dog act.

What short memories a lot of people here have.
1.) in 2005 Cullen tried to get rid of Bennett. In 2006 Bennett had a plan to go to the roosters because of Cullen. He ended up staying & sacked his support staff (who have all said is was a good call because they needed to broaden their horizons) and lead us to the premiership (with Shane perry at 7 no less).
2.) Cullen still pissed & full of his own importance got rid of Bennett in 2008, he wanted to go to the cowboys but the board didn't want him (lol) so he went to St George.
3.) he got St George the perennial chokers a premiership with Ben Hornby at 7.
4.) He always said he'd only stay for a few years, tinkler wooed him with the promise of a golden nest egg for his two disabled children.
5.) he lead a very below average side to within one win of the premiership in 2013, whilst the broncos with an epic star studded side crashed out in their worst ever season under griffin.
6.) this year at the knights he and his players weren't paid and had one of the most tragic on field events in the last 50 odd years occur, it's a miracle they are even making a team to compete each week IMO.

7.) Griffin has been rubbish, he would be a good understudy as there is no doubt he is a man of honour and integrity.

8.) the broncos board wouldn't be bringing him in if they didn't have a succession plan.

Blow smoke up bennetts ass all u want, but this statement is just stupid. As soon as bennett is back in the broncos colours, the excuses for the knights pathetic season begin.

News Ltd influence stopped him going to the Cowboys.

Cullen got rid of him because he lied about the Chooks.

Morals don't mean shit in business, generally the ones with the loosest are the most successful.

It's used as something to feel good about yourself when you're overtaken by more ambitious, less compassionate and ultimately more successful people.
If Bennett fails here then I guess you can have your moral cake and eat it too.

but I bet if he's successful everyone will either forget or not give a shit about this 'coup'.

Griffin just asked the reporters to get on with business as usual and only talk about Friday's game against the Storm. He said it in a serious manner and the journos laughed at him.

Can see it now, Griffin pulls out all the stops and the team goes into beast mode. I'll wait to see the team list and how we perform on Friday but I'm very tempted to throw some dollars on us making the 4 if not the GF.

So everyone knows, I voted No - We should have picked another coach.

This will come as a shock to most of you.

It would be even more amusing if that happened because you'd be like 1) where has that been all season and 2) if you had of played like that prior to now, maybe you'd still have him as coach.

With Bennett, we know he's close to retirement, so the club can start preparing pretty much as soon as he joins anyway.

Bennett isn't as good as he used to be, but he's still a lot better than friggin Griffin. He still knows how to get the most out of your players at the right time, and our defence should improve dramatically too.

I'm not a fan of Walters, from the outside it just seems like he's pretty hopeless and he's using all his connections and Bennett to try to make something of himself. Like I said a few times already, I'd prefer looking at Cameron Smith as a future coach, he definitely has one of the best footy brains and is pretty much an onfield coach already.

Like hook said in the press conference..........it's a big bad world out there..............hard decisions have to be made. We needed a change........ simple as that!

it seems like he feels he owes it to the players to finish the season strongly and if what a number of players have said is true then they will want to repay him with strong performances to round out the year.

would sure be a funny/awkward situation if we went on to top 4 and lets say, make the pre lim finals or better.
