Wayne Bennett: Gagai shouldn’t have been sacked

Gagai also initially talked of mistakes he made off the field as being the reason for his sacking no mention the bulking program ... so was he lying then or is he lying now.

Only one of his two stories can be true.

So a couple days after being sacked.. did you really think he was going to tell the media he couldn’t get fat enough for Hook?

Could he have been referring to coming in late to training?? That yes, that was where I messed up ... But. And the but comes later. If you're always told you're a bad kid you think you're a bad kid. Probably he was just under a bad system, poor leadership, amateur vision and with no support / understanding of what a young player his age and with his skillset needed at the time. So now, after being out of that system and being allowed to play his own game, he's flourished. Sound familiar?? (Every scrap heap signing Bennett has made in the last 2years of being back)

And can we just compare the signings and players let go under Griffin vs Bennett. There's only been one embarassing player slip under Bennett, and that is only one in hindsight mind you, which is Ash Taylor. Griffin?

Petero? And replaced him with Joel Clinton on similar money to what Petero was promised (and denied).

The Bot is back. And judging from this I see you haven’t learned any new algorithms.

No bot.
Just happy for Gagai able to tell us the truth what really went down between him and Hook.

no ... you just choose to believe this version ...

most sensible people know that if you tell two different stories about the same thing, then one of the can't be the truth, i.e. a LIE ... the problem about telling a LIE is that it makes it hard for people who have common sense to believe you.

since Gagai told two different stories about the same thing then he is by definition, a LIAR

Just ignore Porthoz, he has no sources.
He’s just making crap up as he goes.

Quote from Gagai himself:

“I really struggled putting on weight. They wanted big outside backs so I’d stay up late trying to eat, I’d get up in the early hours of the morning to eat. Then that just got a bit tough and I was late to a few sessions.”

Could you link to it? I Googled the sentence and nothing came up.

He needed a change of scenery because Griffin's culture was crap. He was a hard ass task master using the same tactics on every player thinking everyone responds to the same stimulus. And they don't. Some need nurturing. Some need a kick up the arse. Bennett is a good manager of personalities and culture. Why as soon as hook left, our squad went to another level. Making a gf after just scraping into the 8

Exactly right.
Hook using the same fat diet for everyone even though Gagai’s game was never based around power.

For someone like Tariq Sims yeah maybe.
Is Tariq telling lies as well about waking up middle of the night to get fat?

"The Broncos came up with a little theory where I had to eat in the middle of the night."
"My metabolism wasn't as high then so I used to keep bananas and peanut butter sandwiches next to my bed. I'd set an alarm for 1am and as soon as that went off, I'd get up and eat a sandwich.

"Half the time I'd do it with my eyes closed."

There's a pretty clear pattern. We've all seen it before. Griffin has probably learnt his lesson. I even asked Gould if Griffin's bulking program and the effect it has on the players was addressed in the interview process. He denied it. But I think it would have come up.. he would have been made to admit that was a mistake

This is a very simplistic view of life. It is entirely possible to have a different version of events years later because your perspective changes overtime and distance. Just because he said at the time he had issues and now says it was because of the bulking it doesn’t mean both can’t be true.

It is fair to assume that he would not want
to bag the coach at the time but as the years pass and you realise more in hindsight, that seperation makes you more comfortable to reveal the truth.
