What crazy circus has it been all year round with Broncos board & Wayne. The fuckheads in the media kept on generating any kind of garbage just to get some clicks for their rubbish.

Has Wayne lost it/ has the board messed up big time in not extending Wayne beyond 2019/ did the board have a motive to kick out Wayne at the earliest is something we might never know except for some nonsense rumors going around.

Enough with the crap and bashing of Broncos all year around. Now that the great coach has decided to move on, I strongly hope that he stays on for 2019 and we smash everyone we play against in 2019 and win the damm thing. What a way to send off the great coach the Broncos have privilege to be coached for such a long time?

The masterstroke from Wayne of all this nonsense for mine is -- the great man showing his smartness and aura in letting the world know that he has signed with Souths from 2020 on wards before the self inflicted Broncos board decided on the coach from 2020.

It's time for the boys to stop talking loud ( as to who has it to coach Broncos/ their loyalty to Broncos blah blah) but start playing damm good footy and send out the great man in grand style.

He decided to sign with Souths. The decision to move on was made for him.

I guess you reap what you sow. We just have to wait now and see what comes about. If we lose players, so be it. At least they'll be leaving for the right reasons: to better their careers, not because the coach they have doesn't have it. Anyway, who knows, maybe they'll be a few from south sydney that'll want to follow siebold up? I doubt it, but there could be i suppose.
Lets hope when he does come up, he makes the most of it and is given his chance.
If he is as good as people make out, the resources at this club could lift him to another level. I just hope we don't lose the focus on junior development that wayne had and try and buy our way out of trouble, year after year.

if players follow Bennett they will hurt not help their careers ...

They will be going to a clubs whose facilities and systems are no match for our own, all to play for a coach that will retire 2 years after he leaves ... then who knows who will be their coach, they could get a quality coach or they could get a numpty ...

They could potentially hurt their careers, that is true. They could also find themselves on the outer with the new coach. Nothing is guaranteed. They know where they stand with WB. Can they say the same for the new coach.
Every time a coach is appointed players who were fixtures of the team get shifted or shift. Personalities clash, the styles of attack and defence and even assistant coaching staff, people they work with on a regular basis, can have an impact.
The best they can do is see where the dust settles and make their call accordingly. The argument about facilities is somewhat superficial. It is great they have it here but it wouldn't do anything to make or break a career. Those kind of things are most important to the up-and-coming players in the system, rather than the established ones.
If I was part of the decision makers at the broncos, I would be trying to make the transition to the new coach as seamless as possible, tying down some of the old faces around WB, even if it costs them to remove them when the new coach establishes himself and seeks change. You want the players comfortable in their routines during this change and leave the disruptions to the minimum. There were plenty regardless but its important the team is in a good a place as it can be for the new coach, rather working from ground up.
On the flip side, WB will be trying to lure some of the more reliable types at the clubs with him when he goes to make his own (but also potentially others) transition easier. To give some perspective, look at the broncos team, before and after bennet.
Barba was a troubled star, wallace a struggling half. Oates was an up-and-coming 2nd row. We had co-captains in hodges and thaiday.
Today we have boyd as captain, oates is an established winger and knik is half. In two years will knik be here? oates? Boyd will have retired, possibly gillet and macca by then. Lodge and Roberts will either have had two further faultless service, or be gone for good as players. Everything will be in the air and new coach will have work cut out dealing with it.
Everybody thinks the new coach will sweep all our troubles away and bring everything lacking in the side to the forefront for correction. The truth is, if it were that easy, WB would have gone in 2016. Broncos need a good coach and I don't doubt siebold can be that. They also need a great leader who can heal the wounds and smooth the transitions. That part i see being much harder.

Nine News, the shameless ***** that they are, spun Bennett's words into a hotter story in tonight's headlines. "They can come with me to Souths if they choose" got spun into "these players are definitely following Wayne to Souths"

Also now Tallis is out there saying "heads should roll" over Walters getting overlooked for the job. Says a lot doesn't it. The only time heads should roll is if Bennett and Seibold swap places next year and Souths win a premiership.

Brisbane Broncos snubbed Kevin Walters because he is Wayne Bennett 2.0
If this theory is true it’s a fair insult to two Broncos legends.

Club legend Justin Hodges believes the Brisbane Broncos will steer away from appointing fan-favourite Kevin Walters as the club’s next head coach because he is too similar to departing mentor Wayne Bennett.
South Sydney coach Anthony Seibold is expected to be named as Bennett’s successor for the 2020 NRL season after the Broncos board meets on Tuesday.
There is some suggestion Seibold and Bennett will swap jobs immediately after the latter signed a two-year deal with the Rabbitohs on Thursday for the 2020 and 2021 NRL seasons.
Either way, it appears certain Walters, who won five premierships with the Broncos as a player and has previously served as an assistant coach, won’t get the top job.
“It’s a bit of a tough one, for me I think the only reason why it won’t go to Kev is because he’s a similar sort of (coach) to Wayne,” Hodges, who believes Walters was the best man for the job, told Fox Sports News.
“He’s learned off Wayne, he’s learned off Craig Bellamy and I always thought he was the right man for the job but I just think the club wants a different direction to what’s happened in the past.”
“… I think the reason why Wayne’s leaving and if they don’t go with Kevvie Walters, they want someone to come in with a different direction and a different voice to try and change the culture a little bit.
“And I think that’s probably why he’s (Seibold) the front-runner and he’s been a part of the Queensland Origin system as well so he’s been around some great players and had a lot of success.
“So I think that’s where the Broncos want to go in a different direction.”
Meanwhile, Hodges believes his former coach Bennett genuinely wants to stay at Red Hill in 2019 in a bid to deliver a seventh premiership to the Broncos.
“I think he will stay, unless the club sack him and bring Anthony in straight away,” Hodges said.
“But I think he will stay, he wants to see out his tenure here and I think he’s got some unfinished business, he wants to win another competition.
“He knows there’s some great, young players coming through the Broncos’ system so I don’t see Wayne making the decision that he wants to leave … I think he’ll try and see out this year.”

Wayne Bennett’s long-term plan to build Rabbitohs into NRL benchmark

RABBITOHS boss Shane Richardson says Wayne Bennett will spearhead a five-year plan to make Souths the new NRL benchmark as Queensland star Greg Inglis rubber-stamped the signing of the Broncos coach.
Richardson has revealed how Bennett would kickstart a long-term strategic blueprint that would see Russell Crowe’s Rabbitohs dethrone Melbourne as the NRL’s kingpins by 2025.
There is speculation Bennett could replace Brisbane target Anthony Seibold at Redfern next season but Richardson insists that will only happen if the Broncos choose to sack the 68-year-old immediately.
That scenario appears unlikely, suggesting Bennett will formally begin at the Pride of the League in 2020 in a move that has the unqualified support of Souths’ leadership group led by Inglis

Despite being a Queensland superstar, Inglis has never been coached by Bennett at club, Test or Origin level. The Maroons skipper will be 33 when he comes off-contract at the end of 2020, giving Bennett a belated chance to mentor Inglis before he potentially retires.
While Souths’ deal with Bennett was brokered as quietly as it was quickly, Richardson is adamant the $2 million poaching raid had the blessing of Rabbitohs captain Inglis.
“Our senior players have thoroughly endorsed it,” Richardson said.
“Before the board meeting to finalise Wayne’s deal, I spoke to our leadership group.
“I asked Greg Inglis, Sam Burgess and John Sutton and they said of course they like ‘Seibs’, but they have no issue at all being coached by Wayne Bennett.
“I’ve spoken to Greg and he thinks it’s a wonderful idea. He and the senior players can’t wait to be coached by Wayne.
“Greg has never worked with Wayne. He reckons Wayne has always wanted to coach him so he gets his chance now.
“When I mentioned Wayne’s name to Greg, he was very positive so I don’t think there’s anyone that can say South Sydney will be diminished by Wayne Bennett trying to win games for us.”
Bennett will turn 70 when he starts at Souths and Richardson revealed the seven-time premiership-winning coach would have input on the club’s long-term direction.
“It’s important to note that we have a five-year plan in place around Wayne and we’ve spoken with Wayne about it,” he said.
“We have spoken to Wayne about our succession plan and he knows exactly what our vision is.”
Richardson hosed down suggestions of a Bennett-Seibold straight swap, saying he has no issue working with his existing coach.
“I have a good working relationship with Seibs,” he said.

Bennett was 'poached' right out from the club who...didn't want him?

not to mention that if they did want him, no poaching attempt would have been successful, lol that is some first rate reporting right there

Just get seibold to Brisbane ASAP
Meh....I say let Seibold see out his contract at Souths and we'll see how great a coach he really is. My bet is Bennett will lead to the Broncos to the GF and the Bunnies will miss the playoffs. BHQ will have a meltdown.

You mean like this year.

‘Wears heart on his sleeve’ Bennett heaps praise on new boss Crowe.
Wayne Bennett has spoken of his admiration for Russell Crowe for his role in turning around South Sydney, saying he couldn’t knock back another chance to join him at one of his favourite rugby league clubs.
Bennett will join the Rabbitohs on a two-year deal from 2020, but reiterated his intention to complete his contractual commitments with Brisbane next year. The seven-time premiership-winning mentor revealed he had received interest from clubs other than South Sydney and Wests Tigers, but couldn’t turn down the Pride of the League again after coming agonisingly close to joining them after his Dragons stint ended in 2011.
The move will bring together the two biggest personalities in rugby league, an Oscar-winning actor and arguably the greatest clipboard-holder of them all. While Crowe wasn’t involved in negotiations with Bennett – those were left to Souths’ general manager of football Shane Richardson – the veteran mentor is looking forward to working with the Hollywood star.
“I love what he’s done for the club,” Bennett told Fairfax Media from England.
“Without his support, South Sydney wouldn’t be where they are today.
“He wears his heart on his sleeve and he’s brought back a lot of history to the club. He’s made the players proud of the club again, want to play for the club. He’s been front and centre of all of that.
“I admire people for doing that. It’s like when the Broncos started, the original four directors came in there and put it all on the line. That’s what Russell has done.”
Bennett almost joined the Rabbitohs for the 2012 season. He was attempting to find a spot to park his car after driving to Richardson’s house to close the deal. Unable to find one, he figured he couldn’t handle Sydney’s traffic.
“It was very close,” he said.
“There were two things that happened and I won’t go there. It had nothing to do with Souths, it was personal and I don’t want to talk about those. They were not bad things, I just felt I would be letting a group of guys down if I went, it had nothing to do with Souths – and I couldn’t find a car park. That pissed me off.
“George Burgess has promised me he will reserve a car park for me.
“I have worked with Sam [Burgess] in the English team, I put him in the All Stars team when he first came to Australia. I have a lot of time for Sam, he’s an outstanding person. George and Tom are great guys as well, I’ve got a great rapport with them.
“I’ve always wanted to coach Greg Inglis. I love what he brings.
“They are a great icon club, they are very well run and have done extremely well from where they were a decade ago.
“It all stacked up for me. St George and the Rabbitohs have always been my favourite clubs from the time I was young. To get to go there as a coach is pretty special. When it came and I saw it was a possibility, I jumped at it.
“I didn’t even blink.”
Souths coach Anthony Seibold is poised to replace Bennett in 2020, but the Redfern-bound coach takes umbrage with suggestions it is a “coach swap” given his commitment to see out his Broncos obligations.
“There is no part of the deal where we are doing an exchange of coaches,” he said.
“For all of those conspiracy theorists out there, can you get that in your head. My position at the Broncos has not changed. I’ve said from when it all started, when they said they didn’t require my services after 2019, I’ve said I will stay and fulfil my contract.”
Bennett said he wouldn’t put any pressure on Broncos players to follow him to Redfern – “That will be their decision” – and revealed that other suitors were in the mix for his services.
“To be honest, there were a few clubs interested,” he said.
“I was pleasantly surprised, it has been very humbling for me actually.
“You don’t know when you’re coaching if you’re attractive to other clubs or not, but there are a number of clubs that I’ve spoken to. I don’t want to name them, that doesn’t suit anyone’s purpose.
“There were those who thought there wouldn’t be any interest in me, but that wasn’t the case.”

In my opinion, Wayne / Seibs swap in 2020 is better than a swap in 2019.

Wayne is contractually aligned to the Bronx in 2019, it'd be a god darn shame if we didn't let the man see out his contract. After all that he has done for us, he doesn't deserve to be kicked out.

Let him have his last hoorah, give him a fitting send off, then bring on a fresh mentality with [HASHTAG]#Seibs2020[/HASHTAG]

He has already moved on. To much damage has been done for any meaningful last hurrahs. No matter if he remains next year or not it’s far to late, he has already put the barriers up.
