NEWS We got it wrong, Bellamy mentored Walters, not bennett

That's different to the stats posted above. 89 is a third of his time out. That was his second broken leg too.

They lost five in a row while he was out.

I was as surprised by the figure as you were.

'95 really sweetened the pot. Langer suffered an injury (quadriceps?) and the Broncos went out and picked some no-name from reserve grade.

Darren Lockyer.

The question was his win percentage without Alf in the 90's.

All up, including the remaining games in '99, it's 61.11%

Laugh all you like Beads, but their records speak for themselves

Meanwhile, you haven't offered anything to support your assertion that I am so blatantly wrong it's laughable

Tell us why, in spite of the massive difference in their respective records, Bellamy is at least as good Wayne

He is 51 yo and has aspired to coach in the NRL for many years now. He would be mad to pass up the opportunity as one may not come up again. Who knows, he may be ultra successful on the Coast.

Yeah that's 1 way to look at it

Here's another:

More stress, more hours, less money - he'd be stupid to take it

Walters should continue to coach the maroons while cam smith is around. Just enjoy the qld dominance while it's there.

I just find it funny he is looking to retire around the years that Smith, Cronk and Slater are gone...

He re-signed for two more years last year.. Right around the time the last two of the big three are gone.

Watch him retire then.

Yup. He constantly brings up retirement because he doesn't want to coach Melbourne when the 'big 3' are gone.

Its timeframe is still relevant though

Yes and no. Before, Melbourne's post big three future was uncertain. Now it's still looking pretty good with the talent they've got locked in and coming through. I wouldn't be surprised if he stuck around a few more years and still performed well.
