What is happening at the Broncos?

I think the writing is on the wall for WB. I think it's finally time for him to step aside.
He inherited a squad in 2015 which went within 1 min of winning the whole thing now we have this roster all under his watch.
This squad looks staid and needs some new ideas as well as some obvious positional changes.

Short memories!!! Who's done better than wayne , that has coached Brisbane. The only way wayne gets the tap is if he fails miserably over consecutive seasons , or if we sign someone better . Which is very debatable, bellamy is the only one i can think of but still is he better??

Our bench forwards are dreadful. We actually have one of the best, in terms of form at least, starting prop combos in the comp (who we will probably lose next year lol). Next week compare Lodge and TPJ's runs vs Sims Offa and Thaiday.

Ofa hasn't been bad at all.

His first two games weren't great, but in the last 3 weeks, he has been close to TPJ's production, averaging 24 tackles and 11 runs a game at 9.5 mtrs per run. Actually, only Lodge averages better runs, but Ofa has him on tackles.

No doubt TPJ is the most talented of the lot, and Lodge the hit-up machine, but Ofa gets a raw deal from people, especially when compared to the worthless Sims and Thaiday.

Apologies in advance for the long rant but here’s my take on things.

Along with others on this forum I’m sick and tired of the effort displayed on field BUT I have a suspicion there is a bigger problem higher up.

Anyone notice the attitude after scoring a try? Most teams celebrate like they’ve won the GF but only a handful of players went to congratulate Oates and Milford. There is some serious issues within certain players and for this, I place the blame squarely on coaching.

Years ago worked for a company that while had some issues, everyone loved the place. Put in extra time, never bitched because we all had each other’s back in our team of 15-20 people. For 4 years our team had the lowest staff turnover with 1-2 (mainly due to maternity leave) but they all came back. One year they hire 2 mid level managers with ‘great’ successes in the banking field and went about “enhancing the output of our team” (biggest load of PR crap).

The following year we lost 4 full time staff with most of them there for over 5 years. We knew the changes weren’t feasible so went to management outlining issues and even proposed solutions. The response-yeah we’ll take it into consideration. Year after that 8 staff (including me).

I see it with the Broncos at the moment and I believe either Wayne has truly lost it with the playing group or that certain individuals are getting preferential treatment that is driving a wedge into the rest of the group. Either way this needs to be addressed or the once proud club we love will continue down the gurgler.

TL:DR Coaching and management need to pull their heads in, let players air grievances and cease preferential treatment to ‘loyal’ players.

BTW the company was taken over by a competitor a year after I left.

Completely agree , he is going well. Maybe a starting position isn't to far away . Put lodge or tpj on the bench for some impact. Or maybe bring fai in for sims

I still have faith Wayne will turn things around for us this year- we have a good squad. I think a couple of changes are required though, 1- Boyd is a terrible captain, he’s playing injured but just isn’t the right man to captain the side, I think Macca should be the skipper, he gives his all every game he plays unlike Boyd. Obviously Wayne won’t take the captaincy off Boyd unfortunately. 2- Thaiday and sims need to go- I don’t care if Thaiday has been a good servent to the club, Parker and Hodges both got the tap on the shoulder when they were still playing good footy, Thaiday hasn’t played many good games since locky retired, he offers nothing. 3- swap TPJ and McGuire, allows TPJ the chance to get the ball later in the set and create some second phase.
Play to our advantages, have milf and Kodi looking for offloads and try and work on some plays to get jimmy and bird some quality ball, a lot of people have been critical of bird on here but he gets awful service from Milford.

Also can’t believe we let jai arrow go- wtf were we thinking? Surely we could have got rid of Thaiday Glenn sims and/or paid a lot less for Milford and Boyd.

Arrow is a great 13, we already had Moose and potentially TPJ and Bird that will be locks at some stage for us. He is wasted as a prop and we pretty much only had a bench forward position for him. It hurts watching him tear it up for the cockheads down the road but you know what they say " you can't keep them all".

Lodge, the halves, the apparent lack of forwards, the depth the club has lost over the years, Bennett, the team not performing, Kevvie walking out, and currently the WB & Brown “fued.”
I’m over it.
I live south of the border, so maybe the amount of Broncos bashing down here is a little more then in Brisbane itself, but honestly I would believe at the moment we are the most hated club in the NRL.

Pisses me off too. The media has been relentlessly negative towards us lately, led by Kent and Buzz with their agendas against Wayne. Kent has been on a Broncos bashing mission since Wayne said he lied about Benji saying Milf is a lazy trainer.

Rep players or not, this squad isn't very good. There was a reason most experts picked them to finish out of the 8, it's because it is a roster which contains nothing special in it. Mix in a few players past their prime (Gillo, Glenn, Boyd, Thaiday) with a mixture of inexperience (Isaako, Lodge, TPJ) along with guys who are simply not up to the level required (Niko, Sims, Offa) along with players who are established and still have their best ahead of them (Milf, Moose, Bird, Jet). Does this look like a top 4 side to you? Of course it doesn't. This roster was always going to struggle and will have to fight tooth and nail to even feature in any post season action in 2018.

I completely disagree with this. Outside of lacking a game manager, we definitely have a top 4 roster in terms of individual quality.

Look at Benji & Hunt..
Hunt hasn't shown the form he is in at the Dragons since 2015, and if it continues he will outplay that year, this year. Obviously has Widdop next to him, but with $1.2mil comes a lot of expectation, and he is delivering.
Looks as though they have the weight of the world off their shoulders and are allowed to play their natural game..
On the other hand Milf and Kodi are playing with no confidence whatsoever, yet Milf is on $1mill p/yr and is playing like someone who should be on 250k..
At the time, and still now I am surprised that Milf didn't end up at the Melbourne Storm when last year when they were interested in him. I think he would have really flourished down there, I don't see him currently playing anywhere near his potential, the money mustn't have been as enticing.

I've seen a few of the dragons games this year and Hunt is going alright, but it's not like he's carving it up. Nearly every kick the other night found the fullback on the chest.

I think at the moment just cause our team is going bad we're looking for reasons and giving ex players more credit than they're due. With the possible exception being Jai Arrow. He is flying it. But Hunt hasn't produced anything this year so far that we didn't see in patches over the last two years. The only difference is his team is winning.

Yeah, if we signed Blake Green, we'd probably be looking a lot better. Surely he would have preferred Brisbane to overseas. It's sad no one considered him, but then at the time I didn't either.

No in fact the exact opposite. The knights roster was filled with players on the verge of retirement or the twilight of their careers. This bronco team is full of inexperienced players with potential, with the exception of Thaiday, and Boyd.

Our starting props haven’t played 25 games between them, and our halves both =< 24.

We might equally suck but for very different reasons.
