I don't know if we will see anything happen contract wise with Hunt him until after November when we can officially approach DCE. I reckon we will explore the DCE option first and if that doesn't come through then look to secure Hunt.

Even if Hunt gets an offer from somebody else we will still have till June 30 to counter if we choose to.

Truly, if we wait to see what happens with DCE before negotiating with Hunt, I'll lose all faith in the organisation

I would much rather keep Hunt on less and for him to continue to develop under Bennet, than get DCE on huge money, taking a large amount of the salary cap.

to expand on Porthoz's comment ... there is no rule saying we can't talk to him today, the only rule states that a contract won't be registered by the NRL until round 13 next year.

DCE is NOT coming ... he will stay in Sydney, his wife doesn't want to move. although i fully expect him to use us to get more cash from Manly

I completely forgot about him, if I'm honest lol but that really depends on what happens to Barba. I'm fairly certain the club would prefer to have Milford and Cherry in the squad, but having Barba at the club would be a big boon to try and lure Cherry in the first place. It's a nice old conundrum.

If DCE really considered us, I'd go for him 199%. You can build a team around a good spine, even if you have to let go of some players over the years. Melbourne and Manly have shown that. And DCE is certainly 10 times better than Barba.
