What is the strongest team the Broncos can field in 2014 and 2015?

People.....Todd lowrie is not a fringe first grader he is a premiership winning defensive specialist forward, je will be in the team somewhere. People leave him out of line ups alot

Sounds like Stagg as well.

True but he's younger and more aggressive, starter in most teams, poor staggy isn't up there anymore. They'd be fighting for the spot

Interesting that people have so much confidence in Strasser.

Well it's not like any of the alternatives are standouts, if they were Strasser wouldn't even be mentioned.

To discover talent, you have to take risks. We took a risk with Oates and found a potential superstar. We took a chance with Maranta and found a dud.

That's a bit harsh.... duds aren't that bad !

I think if we were naming our strongest team after last year, Oates would have a starting second row spot over Glenn and Thaiday. But he needs to be in the team. He was one of our better players last year. He is a good finisher so it seriously wouldn't hurt to have him on the wing. And slow??? He outran Uate with a ball in his hand!

I'm picking Strasser every time.

Interesting that people have so much confidence in Strasser.

It's difficult to have a valid opinion on any of the new players without watching the pre season training, and trials.
I think everyone on here lives in hope ZS will pull one out of the box, and solve a few problems. Forums are for strong ,mostly baseless opinions after all. how else can you point back to previous posts and say ,looks like I'm a genius.

As he said himself all he had to do for those tries was fall over the line. He doesn't have the size to run over people or a step or acceleration. He isn't a legitimate wing choice but he is good under the ball and is very good positionally in both o and d. He can cover it admirably but is far from first choice. We don't yet know how he is in the second row and id therefore love to see him come off the bench. He also performed well in the centres and just maybe could push copley and mills out of the spot until Hodges returns

Uate thought he had no acceleration either . also check tackle busts. obviously being a youngen he does lack some of those learnable skills. he has a quality to him though in the between the ears department which suggests to me we need to find a space for him in 14 or 15.

You're not really a specialist 6 when you were a fullback 12 months ago and you spent part of the last season playing 7.

watch from 1:21 when it comes to being a winger and breaking tackles and acceleration i think he is more than handy choice. and when it comes to the high ball hes better than hoffman in both attack and defence

true but then again some games in the halves is better than none (kahu) he is a fullback trying to be 5/8th. everyone wants to do a lockyer

Do you have a reason why we shouldn't?

No, he's impressing this off-season and taking his chance training wise. Just found it interesting so many people were so confident over a Queensland Cup player that few had watched when normally you wouldn't get that. Players in the same situation like Reed and Gillett would not of got a single mention before debut and certainly wouldn't of been in people's teams.

Strasser's three best games last year were against Wynnum, Comets and Sunny Coast. His running game is his strength, his passing and kicking are being worked on.

The scarier proposition is that our entire game plan and kicking game falls to Ben Hunt to execute.

We just need someone with Shane Perry levels of "fill-in-ness" at 6 to kick the ball occasionally and get the ball to Barba in attack on the second man play. Preferably someone who can tackle (not Kahu) and who will actually pass the ball (e.g. NOT like Corey Norman). Put Gillett or Stagg or Lowrie or Granville there for all I care, so long as he knows his job is to catch and pass to Barba early. That's it.

I can guarantee Hook will stick with low-percentage forward grinding, with the second man play to Barba inside our 40 and bomb to wing the only attacking options.

Barba goes down early this season and we're in a very bad spot without him and Hodges.
