What is the strongest team the Broncos can field in 2014 and 2015?

For those not convinced on Granville, does this video below show enough potential for him to be a handy bench hooker???

In my opinion Granville would provide speed out of dummy half, as well as a bit of creativity as he likes to play what's in front of him. If used correctly, he could be a strike weapon off the bench when the opposition is looking tired. His defence looks to be solid enough, while his support play is another thing that caught my eye in every game he has played for Wynnum. That probably comes from his ability to play fullback. His passing game is good and his running game is also strong. I think he could do really well coming on for McCullough.

He deserves a run at number 6 more than anyone in our team. He is quick, can run, can pass, can kick, is a creative, natural play maker. How is he not in the running? And he also played fullback and that's basically a prerequisite for Broncos 5/8s these days!

Since he's apparently the only other hooker in our squad, he should be playing off the bench each game. Put some pressure on McCullough to perform, or replace him if he turns out better.

What really struck me in that video is his terrible tackling technique. Yes he can pick out the player very well but he goes straight for the legs/hips and he can't finish, EVERY tackle in that clip someone else had to come over the top he cold not do any 1 on 1 and the forwards all hesitated whether to help.

so he comes up fast first and the opposition player have their hands free constantly. if there was another defender right by his side not an issue, however his entire team always hesitated for some reason perhaps anticipation of an offload before they can get there? qld cup he might not be punished as much but in nrl we would be weak up the middle again in the crucial points of the game

He is skilled in attack yes ill give him that. I'm critical of hookers they are such an important part of the team in defence and getting the forwards on the role.

I expect Granville gets the spot over Cullen just hope tackling is his goal for preseason

Its an old video, before any nrl training...his defence has changed much since then.

Agreed, this was just a little highlight package of rounds 1-8 in 2012. I wish there was more footage of his other rounds in 2012, aswell as his year in 2013. Either way, he is arguably the best hooker in the QCup. I'm sure he has enough natural ability to make a solid first grader. I mean Cooper Cronk was never naturally talented, he just worked hard, look where he is now. Granville started pre-season early. That sort of work ethic, knowing that he has improvement in his game in order to be an NRL player, suggests he has the makings to become a very solid player.

Was Hoffman the only one to train at right centre yesterday or did they try a few variations?

Oates is not a Winger, put him on the bench as a back rower or put him in Q Cup.

There isn't enough room on the bench for him even stagg might miss out and he makes an impact at wing and big game experience can't do any harm for the future

I just think it could harm his development.

How?

Unless the club was foolish enough to delude themselves into thinking he was a career winger, I don't see what possible side effects such a move would have at this stage of his career. It'd be like telling Canberra in 94 that they shouldn't play Wiki or Croker in the centres because they're destined to become backrowers - as long as it's the best move for the club, keep them there.

I suspect the Broncos will be patient with Oates and won't just rush him straight back into first grade. However, if injuries do occur in the backs, I wouldn't be surprised to see him either represent on the wing or in the centres. Otherwise, he'll play off the bench in a similar role as Eastwood from 06 who basically filled in everywhere.
