Where will we finish?

I don't think that's right, is it? The top four losers get another home game. The controversy has been that Raiders, Sharks, etc won't get a true home game. They have to play at either ANZ or Allianz.

The losing teams of the top 4 get a home game the second week.

The home game goes to the higher ranked team.

Last year Cowboys played Sharks in Townsville and Roosters played Bulldogs at SFS.

Looks like we'll be playing the Tigers in week 1, unless the Titans pull off a miracle next week.

Edit: Scratch that. We'll be playing the Titans unless the Tigers can beat the Raiders.

No, they have to travel to play the winners of the elimination finals.
Wrong, they play at home. Bottom 4 teams travel to Top 4 teams in week 2 of the finals.

If we finish fifth we probably travel to Townsville week two. Not too keen on that, although I do think we have their number somewhat.

edit: fifth. If we win week one from fourth I don't think we have to play the Storm or Cows until the GF.

That's sucks for the raiders. I'd imagine they'd be pretty hard to beat atm in Canberra

If we finish fifth, any idea what day we'd be playing in the quarter finals?

I've got that Friday off from work... awfully tempted to dart up to Brissie for the game!

I had a little play on ladder predictor...

Assuming we have a top 4 of Storm, Sharks, Raiders, Cowboys

Finishing 5th means home semi against Titans or Tigers, then playing loser of Storm v Cowboys away, then playing winner of Sharks v Raiders, then the GF.

Finish 6th means a home semi against Penrith, then playing the loser of Sharks v Raiders away, then playing the winner of Storm v Cowboys away, then the GF.

On the old system we'd be playing the Cowboys away in week one, and then waiting for results if we lose hoping that 2 teams below us lose, and if we win hoping that at least two teams below us win to get a week off and if not earning a home semi in week 2.

Last year was:

1 v 4 on the Friday night, that that could be Storm v Cowboys

5 v 8 was the first Saturday game, which will hopefully be us v Titans/Tigers

2 v 3 was the second Saturday night game, which may be Sharks v Raiders

6 v 7 was the Sunday arvo game, which could be Bulldogs v Panthers

2014 was:

2 v 3 on the Friday night (Manly v Souths)

5 v 8 was the first Saturday game (Cowboys v Us)

1 v4 was the second Saturday game (Roosters v Panthers)

6 v 7 was the Sunday arvo game (Melbourne v Dogs)

It appears there is no set structure, just what the NRL thinks is best.

Found this on Foxsports (not sure how accurate it is though)

HOW WEEK ONE FINALS WILL LOOK
Qualifying Final 1 (1st v 4th), Friday September 9
Storm/Sharks v Cowboys/Broncos/Bulldogs
Elimination Final 1 (5th v 8th), Saturday September 10
Broncos/Cowboys/Bulldogs/Panthers v Titans/Tigers
Qualifying Final 2 (2nd v 3rd), Saturday September 10
Sharks/Storm/Raiders v Raiders/Sharks
Elimination Final 2 (6th v 7th), Sunday September 11
Bulldogs/Broncos/Panthers v Panthers/Bulldogs/Broncos

The Wallabies are playing South Africa at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday 10th September. That makes things a bit more difficult to schedule.

the advantage of finishing top for apart from the second chance is that the winners don't have to play in week 2 and get that chance to freshen up their troops

I'm happy with fifth. You get the home semi and get to dust whoever comes in last.

Seriously, Brisbane don't need a top 4 spot to win the comp. What's the reward for finishing fourth? A trip to Melbourne for a bruising encounter against the Storm? No thanks. Different story if the Sharks get up next week but still...

Brisbane don't need a week off. We have momentum and I don't want to encounter the Storm again until GF day. They're too good a side. They'll work us out.

We don't need a week off. Guys like Opacic, Arrow etc need more game time not less. A home semi would be nice though and we can easily win the title from there. We nearly had the Cowboys in Townsville earlier this year so traveling there in week 2 doesn't faze me.

Edit: actually not sure - does the top 4 sides who lose get the home semi in week 2? I can't remember.

I hope the Cowboys smash the Titans next week and sew up fourth spot.

More game time for a starting centre??

Yep, no chance they allow two events on the same day - Friday or Sunday it is.

It better not be on a Saturday.

My sister in-law's birthday that night.

She will be pissed when I tell her I'm going to the footy rather than go to her party. I would rather not deal with that, but if I must, I will.
