Where will we finish?

Is there a combination of events where we do not have to play the Storm or Cowboys in the finals?

Yes.

If the ladder finishes like this.

1. Storm
2. Raiders
3. Sharks
4. Bulldogs
5. Broncos
6. Panthers
7. Cowobys
8. Titans.

That would mean.

Storm vs Bulldogs
Broncos vs Titans
Panthers vs Cowboys
Raiders vs Sharks

If Storm beat Bulldogs, we beat Titans, Cowboys beat Panthers, Raiders beat Sharks, the second week would look like this.

Bulldogs vs Broncos
Sharks vs Cowboys

If we beat Bulldogs and Sharks beat Cowboys, the preliminary final would look like this.

Storm vs Sharks
Raiders vs Broncos

We would need to Sharks to beat Storm and we would need to beat Raiders.

That's the only scenario.

We cannot finish lower than 7th.

Not sure why everyone assumes the Warriors wont be there at 8. They are every chance with 2 home games against Tigers and Warriors while the Tits play Panthers and then Cows in the North.
There will be plenty of Titans fans on edge this week, playing the Panthers is there biggest game in years.

Anyone else going down? I've been booked since rnd 10.

I hope we finish 4th, (still a slight hope) if not 6th is best IMO. We play Panthers at home then the loser of 3 & 4 before we play either Storm or Cows. If we are going to improve enough to win that gives us our best shot.

I would say the Warriors are gone.

If Titans win this week, their top 8 spot is secured.

Warriors F/A would mean they would have to win their next 2 games by big margins and hope Titans & Sea Eagles win by big margins against Panthers.

It's an extremely unlikely situation.

They would need to win both games by at least 40 points.

a simple "NO" would have sufficed :takdir:

Hmm Warriors beat Tigers and Eels and finish on 28, Titans lose to Panthers and Cows finish on 27 is it that unlikely?

Can you see Titans at home losing against Panthers?

I can't.

I know Panthers have been in a good form, but they need everything to go their way to win. I just cannot see them beating Titans at home when a win for the Titans would secure their spot in the finals.

Yeah I can but I hope you are right SF. 3 Qld teams and Melb in the 8 would be great. It helps my chances of seeing a non Sydney GF

The Warriors are ratshit. I would hate to be a supporter of theirs. What a nightmare. They have tried everything to the point of fielding a gold star squad on paper in order to turn their fortunes around and yet here they are, exactly in the same spot as they always are. On the edge of the 8 trying to claw their way in so they can be a week 1 speed bump.

If everyone wants revenge on the Cowboys in the GF, this is how it has to play out.

Broncos and Cowboys have to finish 4th or 5th and keep winning.

Sets up a potential GF rematch.

Nah, I'd prefer them to just slip out the back door and whimper away without a chance of defending their title.

**** that, I want revenge.

I want to see JT in tears.

Just like I was on the long train ride home..

Agreed. I don't want to see the Sharks, cows, or Storm anywhere near the title this year.

How weird is it that the bottom 4 look far more dangerous than the top 4 this year - can't say I've felt this way before. Bogey teams are titans and panthers. I'd love for those two to war against each other. Also, don't know if it's been mentioned in another thread (im sure it has) but Raiders without Austin could be a different beast entirely. a smaller, weaker, less organised beast.

I'm happy with fifth. You get the home semi and get to dust whoever comes in last.

Seriously, Brisbane don't need a top 4 spot to win the comp. What's the reward for finishing fourth? A trip to Melbourne for a bruising encounter against the Storm? No thanks. Different story if the Sharks get up next week but still...

Brisbane don't need a week off. We have momentum and I don't want to encounter the Storm again until GF day. They're too good a side. They'll work us out.

We don't need a week off. Guys like Opacic, Arrow etc need more game time not less. A home semi would be nice though and we can easily win the title from there. We nearly had the Cowboys in Townsville earlier this year so traveling there in week 2 doesn't faze me.

Edit: actually not sure - does the top 4 sides who lose get the home semi in week 2? I can't remember.

I hope the Cowboys smash the Titans next week and sew up fourth spot.

.

No, they have to travel to play the winners of the elimination finals.

I can't imagine any team wants to travel to Suncorp to play the Broncos in the second week of the finals.
