Where will we finish?

We may as well pack up and go on mad monday...

Greg Alexander claims we can not win the comp. Due to our tactics and the fact that "our big men could struggle against the big packs"

He did tip us to beat the Titans though.

I really don't read too much into what the 'experts' have to say at this time of year, especially when they have their own sides competing in the finals.

He's not an expert though: he's an ex-player who's only on commentary for being an ex-player. Gus is an example of an expert who has success in the tactical side of the sport.

it entertains me when people get wrapped up in another ex footballers opinion. who cares.

alexander is pretty funny though. he wrote us off entirely 4 or 5 rounds ago. then even before we beat storm he said only the storm, cowboys, or broncos could win the comp.

now after an average performance he writes us off again :D

i dont think he hates the broncos. he just cant keep one train of thought going for more than a week at a time.

We can handle the 'big packs' only if our D is aggressive and moves up with speed in a straight line. When we hit hard in numbers like against the dogs, the bigger props tend to get scared to run it.

I'd rather we go back to Melbourne, I reckon somehow we have gotten a mental advantage over the Storm the last couple seasons, they wouldn't admit it but we are getting to be their bogey side

I'm not sure if Melbourne has a bogey side at all, but if they do it cure as hell isn't Brisbane

I think I read somewhere that win was our second win in the last eleven games, or close to that?

Perhaps someone can clarify?

Suprised to see fans on Storm forum say they hate playing Brisbane most of all.

Cowboy forum rather play anyone but dangerous Broncos
If we instill that kind of fear we must be doing something right.

We certainly are not their bogey side, I believe the Warriors have that to their credit, as their hot potato style is the direct antithesis of the Storm's, and thus they refuse to engage them on their terms.

I think the statistic you quoted us right, as we were 1 from 11 prior to round 25? If not exactly correct, it's indicative of recent history.

Despite not being the bogey side as it were, we are showing over the last two years we can be competitive against them. The biggest knock on us from 2011-2014 is that we rarely earnt the respect of top tier teams, and our results bore that out.

Since last year though, we've gone 2 from versus the Storm, and I think we have earnt back the respect in the process, as well as garnered the self confidence necessary to earn those wins.

Despite that, I fear the Storm more than any other team. No one else is better at imposing their will on the contest and exploiting your deficiencies, while pushing you to play away from your strengths.

I prefer to say we won two of the last three.

does seem bennet has instilled the fortitude in the team in his 2nd coming

but storm bogey side.. yeah, nah

50% right?

I reckon we've been building to a really big win & hopefully that happens this week against the Titans. Hopefully we can get through injury & suspension free and sit back Saturday night and watch the Storm and Cowboys absolutely bash each other for 80 mins. A few season ending injuries to key players would also help! It's likely whichever team we play (assuming we get past the Titans) will have a 6-day turnaround, so we get a slight advantage. It's then Sharks or Raiders the week after at Allianz. The 2nd week is our GF IMO.

Nothing can avenge what happened in the GF, but beating the cows in Townsville would definitely come close.

Agreed. Who do I hate more at this time of year though? The team that beat us in a grand final or the team that continuously kicked us out of the finals while systematically cheating the salary cap? Tough call.

It's likely we'll get a crack at both of them for us to go all the way. I work with a few Cowboys fans and they have been unbearable since about this time last year, always whinging about something. Melbourne fans are smug, but I'm used to it. So for me, it's easy, the earlier the Cowboys are out the better.
