OPINION who would you pick as the next Broncos number 7?

Been saying for a long time I think Madden will be great for us post-Reyno and the more time he gets the more comfortable I am that he will be a more than serviceable #7. I really like the bloke, hope he has a blinder today.

He reminds me of Cronk a little bit. Atm he tends to go missing when things aren't going our way but at least he's defending well. It'll be interesting to see how he progresses.

He's also still young, has a lot of footy ahead of him and out of the younger playmakers coming through, I'm glad he's ours. He's been really good tonight, apart from a couple of little mistakes. Love to see him succeed.

I think his kicking is improving. Found some open space a couple times and that one torpedo he kicked.....**** it had some legs on it.

Very serviceable. Just needs to keep growing in confidence and start taking it on a bit more. His kicking is pretty good but he doesn't dig into the line like Reyno on those sweep plays. Not many do though.

There was a lot of deserved criticism of Baker and his opening run of the second half. However look at the kick from Madden off the back of it. It wasn't NRL standard and gave Cronulla all the field position they needed.

It was a common theme of the night. The kicking game like many other facets at the Broncos was severely lacking.

A lot of those kicks were coming from inside our 40m because we couldn’t get out of our end, no half is going to play well behind a beaten pack.

No, but an NRL half can help rescue a set by belting the ball longer than 40m. Even under the circumstances, his kicking game was poor and made life easy for the Sharks.

Sure, but he’s still a rookie, I would have liked to have seen Mam, Sailor & Walter’s sharing some of the kicking given the circumstances. I don’t think our kick chase has been anything like it was earlier in the year either, Riki is probably a good metre or two off the pace from where he started the year.

I don't think it's any coincidence that Riki has 'slackened' off since Reynolds has been out. On top of distance, Madden isn't achieving enough height with his kicks either so it's not allowing the chasers to make a play.

He's going fine as a back-up half, but the Broncos want a successor.

I dunno, I think the lacklustre kick chase is just the other side of the lack of line speed that the whole side appear to be suffering from. For whatever reason we are way off the pace, kevvie needs to either give them a rest or a rocket.

I thought it was telling that when Madden did get some height on the kick we actually saw Staggs and Riki mount a chase. Unfortunately it appeared that Riki got escorted off the ball.

Otherwise there was just a lot of nothing kicks in general.

If he was kicking 40 metres he`s kicking from the 30 - 40 down to the opposition 40 - 30 .
That wasn`t the case .
He hit several spiral bombs . Kennedy was good enough to catch them on a dry night .

It was the case, I even gave you a prime example.

I wouldn't be marking Madden to harshly on Saturday nights game. Our forwards got smashed. That said there is no doubt Madden has plenty of room for improvement. He could of helped us by finding a bit more space with some of his kicks but he was under the pump and deep in our territory for most kicks.
