Who's Your Man To Watch This Season?

Good call about Ivan this season is his make or break year IMO. If he goes well in the coaches box we are a real shot with the amount of firepower we have got. Not to sure about Tim Smith taking over from Wallace I think Wallace has been superb for the Broncos I would hate for him to leave the club

McGuire is still only 19 though so he we should be patient with him.

Exactly! We don't want to make the same mistakes that were made with Taylor - too much hype and expectation too young. Forwards need to be developed and nurtered at a slower pace and for a longer time than backs before they really hit their straps at a later age.

He has put in some really really good performances in the Q-Cup and I believe if we largely keep him there to continue developing for the next season or 2 (with some NRL time) he will be awesome for years to come.

I don't his moved on and no amount of moaning about it will bring him back, plenty of quality young forwards coming up through the ranks at the club who will jump at the opportunity.

I don't really think we made any mistakes with Taylor, both Bennett and Henjak tried to keep his feet on the ground by giving him numerous lengthy stints in the QLD Cup, and not overly praising him. the media were the ones talking him up.

I think the mistake was playing him as a prop when he and everyone around him kept telling everyone who wanted to listen he was a widerunning second rower. We all saw what happened when he was played in the right role.

Another mistake Henjak and Bennet made was playing blokes like Wapau in front of him and only giving them 10 mins of play anyway. Waste of time and poor form.

As well as that Wapau was being used wrong.

oh yeh definitely i just wasn't sure why there was so much excitement around him I'm not saying hes bad im just saying i havent seen anything special from him yet

Give him time and he will improve, a prop can be the longest for development in a side given it's reliance on the body's development physicially, McGuire wasn't outstanding off the blocks but he did show he could handle the level at a young age which is a good indication he has a promising future, his definitely one forward we need to keep at the club.

I agree. I'm expecting big things from 'The Big Show' over the next few seasons.

My mind says Tim Smith (mind you I said the same about PJ Marsh and that did happen). Still I think Smith will force his way into the top side as long as his head stays right. You only have to think back to his days with Parra.

I hope that McGuire cements his place in the forwards as a player that we could build a forward pack around. Lastly Teo, Simms and Setu need to show more consistancy, no more one good game out of 3 or 4.

Please NO MORE MAJOR INJURIES!!!!

I, too agree.
The heavily inked McGuire impressed me with his bustling, in your face style.
I think he can be a great Broncos player - big heart, tough and uncompromising.

We love that style of player and we have had some excellent examples in the past.

Maybe he reminds us of some of our former greats.

Im expecting big things from Lagi Setu and Ben Teo, Both showed in glimpses what that can do at the back end of last year and im hoping they can be consistent along with the rest of the team, if so the Broncos will be a force in 2010 :)
