I too find it very ironic that Wayne basically coached a team to beat the all conquering aussies after everyone called for his head as national coach in 2005. I'm kind of disgusted because Darren captained a heavily favored aussie team to a loss in the rugby league world cup final. But other than that I think it's a good result for rugby league.

Some absolute clangers from the Aussie back 3 tonight. Slater's and Monaghan's were obvious and terrible, but Williams ran over the sideline more than once too. They're all pretty quick, but the 50 point scorelines must have convinced them they can run at the speed of light.
No big issues with anyone else in the team. If those three had managed to keep their heads when the pressure was on the game would be ours.
Edit: Forgot to give the kiwis credit. Huge improvement over the series and really gave it to the Aussies tonight. Congrats to them for believing in themselves when no-one else did.

I'm disappointed for Lockyer. He looked shattered out there at the end on the stage. Delighted for Wayne Bennett though after the crap he was dished up by the media, etc back when he was Aussie coach.
How good were the Poms out there supporting the Kiwis. [icon_lol1.
Aussie supporters didn't need to boo when all the kiwi players were being presented on stage - poor form in my book.

Lol you're right, I was yelling at Fitzy the entire game so I can't believe I forgot to include him.
Uji, I agree the forwards were average, but I still think that what they did should have been enough to win with the backline they've got.
Locky really has had a shit year hasn't he? Injury troubles, missed origin and the Anzac test, then the semi against the Storm, and now this. 12 months to wipe from the memory I would think. He has had a great series though, can't wait to see him again next year.

Finally, what's this tripe about Wayne Bennett getting the last laugh? I can understand him wanting a new club-related challenge at the Dragons, but can anyone imagine him turning against his native Qld and assisting NSW? Why the hell then has he turned against his native Australia? One of the more curious aspects of the man and one that I will not understand, ever, and IMO SHOULD NOT be applauded. [icon_non Everything I've said about him in relation to the Broncos still stands though. An absolute champion and legend at Red Hill.
