Nutley was crap at club level ALL the time. One dimensional little munchkin. And it's a stain on the fabric of Queensland rugby league that he was seen as quality at that level in his one appearance. That was purely because the rest of the team was woeful. Easy to stand out in that situation.

If i added the phrase "as a 5/8", quite a few years ago a LOT of people would've agreed with me. That was their opinion, and it was very true that Locky had a bit of a "down" phase in his game. Meh...

I don't think anyone has ever suggested that Lockyer isn't a brilliant player... but could be wrong.

I was a critic and still am of Lockyer as a 5/8th, but only ever for one thing he is an atrocious defender when he has to make more than 5 tackles a match. But hey give him a bodyguard and lots of ball and he wins you matches so I am not complaining all the same.

Give credit where it's due. His defence now is 100x better than when he first moved to five-eighth and it's definitely not atrocious.

It is better yes, but he still falls off more tackles than he makes. But as I said when you possess what he does as an attacking weapon it is just a matter of finding a spot where he can be guarded which Brisbane have been able to do quite effectively.

Better i doubt it. He makes like 10 tackles a game and normally misses about 6.

Actually , Coxy was throwing burley to lure Nuts mate,Huge into defending him( Nutley).....Coxy very famously defamed both Nutley and Huge going so far as to ban him for championing the nuggety forwards magnificent efforts at club level. The best forwards in the game in recent years had the best stats, these things go hand in hand. Rather unsurprising to anyone who actually knows something about football and watches as well is Nutleys stats...second only to Steve Price !!!

A great effort overlooked by the knowledgeless Coxy.....he was the only person in Queensland to not commend Nutley for his outstanding contribution that night. The best forward on the field on the night from either side. Of course greats of the game could know little and Coxy know more but......incidentally the worst forward in recent years was Dane Carlaw( if all games performances were considered)
