You will notice I edited my post 4 mins after I posted.

I used the laughing smilie, as I don't like the winking one.

Still don't think Parker is captain material.

Thats fine if you don't Kaz, I just don't think anyone's goalkicking ability should come into consideration for the captaincy position thats all but to be honest I doubt it did anyway so really no issue, I don't honestly have a problem with Thaiday as captain in general infact it might make him lift more as a player, though I'd be lying if I wasn't disappointed for Parker.

Wouldn't have minded either Parker or Thaiday either way. Either one would make good captains IMO so happy to see it go to Sam.

Would've been a huge amount of pressure on Parker to be heaped with his heavy workload each week, the goal kicking and the captaincy so I don't reckon he would be too upset about it.

Still can't wait til Glenn gets the captaincy after Sammy so that I can get my gold star from Meat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a bit rough on Parker I reckon, as vice-captain the logical progression is to captain when the times comes. Surely the whole point of him being vc was to be captain at some point..

Anyway, hope it doesn't create any friction or anything.

Thaiday has already annoited the next captain.

And that's the bottom line coz Sam Thaiday said so.

I think I would have preferred Parker. I have no issue with Sam as a leader and representative of our club, but I think the captaincy tag and the pressure that comes with it improves Parker's game and detracts from Sam's. I don't think anyone could claim that Sam is the best performer under fire.

I guess I just prefer the cool-headed, controlled style of captain over the boisterous, talkative type.

That being said, I see the merits of both and, of course, he has my support.

Either seem like an acceptable choice but I think I'd have preferred Parker. In part, this is because he'd retire sooner, thus meaning the captaincy could sooner be passed onto our superstar young backrower.

I like Glenn, but I really hope it's Gillett who inherits it. He's an epic defender and just an all round super talent who strikes me as being one of those follow me type leaders (in time). I'd actually be somewhat surprised if he didn't usurp Glenn at some stage in the leadership pecking order.

I don't think Gillett will eclipse Glenn. Hook has had huge wraps on Glenn as a leader for a while now.

I think he's a good choice as captain. Get's fired up on the pitch which is something we need next year and always lead by example. Bit harsh on Corey but hopefully it lights the fire inside of him and causes him to perform better as a result.

Have speculated for years that Thaiday is the next captain. Much, MUCH better choice than Corey, who is a magnificent 2IC.

Well done Sam.

Sammy 'third man in' Thaiday?

Poor choice IMO.

haha yeah this and sammy drop it twice thaiday are my favourite nicknames

but I reckon its a good choice. he'll cut out the odd silly stuff when theres a (C) beside his name.

Yeah it is disappointing that Parker didn't get it. Seemed like he was being groomed for it and for me was the logical choice. With Sammy being a bit of a loose cannon at times I hope he doesn't tone down his game too much with the added responsibility and start to become ineffective as a result.

Lol.

Was anyone more of a loose cannon than Gorden Tallis? And he made a great captain!

^^^ This.

Plus it keeps our tradition of occasionally having captains fans of other clubs hate. Wally Lewis and Gorden Tallis :P

I have no doubt the club used the captaincy as leverage to hold onto Thaiday, Parker has made his loyalty obvious, has kept out of toilets does a good job with the media and still misses out. Poor form from the Broncs on this occasion IMO and no loyalty reciprocated.

I love some of the niggle Parker has brought into his game as well. I mean he's no Ennis or anything, but I've seen him get under other players skins since he got back into the Origin side.
Anyway, it's definitely harsh on him. I think his amazing consistency has had a bad effect on him and us as fans. He's really been our best forward over the last 3 years IMO, but we've got so used to his high level performances that we take them for granted.

The logical long term choice IMO. We are the Broncos, our honor roll of club captains reads like a whos who of Rugby League. I would have gone Pet next year, though.

We have always had longterm captains, Having Petro for just one year would have been a poor choice long term imo.
