More defections.

You've got to look at Tolman in comparison to the better Origin props in the last 5 years. Civoniceva, Price, Scott etc. He's not fit to remove their strapping tape.

The fact the only decent, dominant performance NSW have had from a prop since 2006 was Gallen in game 2 last year says SO much about the lack of quality front rowers south of the border. People go on about the NSW halves being ****, but I think their lack of decent props has been the primary cause of NSW's failure and QLD's dominance.

Wrong qld have the advantage in the spine that's why they have dominated.

QLD are better all across the board. The only positions that NSW have had parity at in recent years are probably in the backline and the backrow. The Maroons have just had better metre eaters and more direction and creativity than us.

NSW fans always bitch about players who where born in NSW but spent the majority of their life in QLD but alwyas seem to forget it when the reverse happens. some examples that spring to mind:

Peter Sterling - born in Toowoomba
Willie Mason - NZ
Ken Negas - Bundaberg
Peter Wallace - Victoria
John Hopoate - Tonga
Ben Elias - Lebanon
Ian Roberts - London
Mario Fenech - Malta
Craig Polla-Mounter - Victoria (then played his junior footy in QLD)
Akuila Uate - Fiji

there are a couple of players in that list that would be considered greats of NSW.

and FTR, the only reason that Adrian Lam was allowed to play for QLD was because he started his origin career during the super league war when all player who had signed for the super league were banned from origin and QLD had no halfbacks at all. But from the soun ds of things Broncoman is too young to remember that.

the only player that NSW can have a legitimate complaint about is Inglis. who played that solitary game in NSW after he turned 16. both state bodies took HIS word for it about who he was eligible to represent. if the NSWRL or the ARL had have spent 5 minutes doing research then he would be a blue right now and NSW would have still just lost 6 straight series.

All of those players you brought up except from Uate and Nagas moved to NSW when they were babies and grew up there and played all their senior and juniors there and we're graded there. This is nothing compared to these 2 kiwis that mal wants and Inglis and Folau. Also I knew the ARL relaxed the eligibility rule in 1995 as Qld had so few players avaible

And Craig polla-mounter never played origin so there's no point arguing about him.

Taumololo was 13 when he came to QLD. Uate was 16 when he went to NSW. Yes, the latter is nothing compared to the first one!!!

Papali was 6 when he came to QLD. That's not even 83% of his childhood FFS.

Why don't you stop spewing NSW crap for a while and just post constructive things. It's not even Origin time, so this isn't even banter. It's basically just some soapbox for NSW vomit.

I was trying to be constructive as possible and I didn't know that Taumololo and Papali moved to Qld at those ages. I think that because Taumololo has represented the junior Kiwis that should rule him out of origin.

I'm also just trying to have a well meaning conversation I'm not bagging qld or you.

in an earlier post you mentioned Thaiday ... may have been born in Sydney but moved to QLD as a kid ... you can't have it both ways

First senior game in Newcastle same as how Thiaday, Crocker and Craig Smith got to play for Queerland and don't get me started on Adrain Lam.

As i have said i'll give you Inglis is playing for the wrong state because all officials at the time (on both sides of the border) trusted who he was eligible for ... it wasn't until the footy show broaught up footage of him playing for Hunter Sports High that anyone knew any different .... and by that time he had already represented QLD

Going by your logic the Uate should be ineligible for NSW because he has represented Fiji.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of banter now and then, but I just find that when it goes on for as long as it has here that it detracts from any actual point. It's hard to talk constructive about something if when the same situation occurs it's viewed differently based on whether it's NSW or QLD biased. I'll grant you that you didn't know those ages, but given you now do, I'm sure you can understand why by page 4 we can't just talk about the actual issue rather than perceive things differently based on state alone.

I think that because Taumololo has represented the junior Kiwis that should rule him out of origin.

This is really just a result of the game I feel. I reckon a lot of people who come to NSW or QLD as a teenager from the NZ/Island nations would love both Origin and to play for their country. But because of the small scope of League as a serious thing Internationally, as a professional I imagine it can be quite hard not to choose the Origin option. I'm sure Akuila's agent can sell his NSW rep honours as a selling point. I'm equally sure he'd be laughed at if he tried to talk up his Fiji jumper.

At the end of the day, I still think players should just be forced to choose what state they want to represent when they sign their first professional contract. And I reckon that whatever side they choose, they should just be allowed to play for them. In many ways, where you first played grade footy as a way of eligibility is outdated. I like to think of it less as "State of Origin" and more like "State of Passion". In most cases these are the same, but in other cases, it's not. I mean, you could grow up loving footy, being a mad QLD/NSW fan, then move to the other state when you are 12 and possibly have to end up playing for the one you hate. I mean, imagine if you woke up tomorrow with footballing ability Broncoman. Because you live in QLD, if you played your first game here, you'd have to be a Queenslander!

And, I mean, if you wanted to get really technical, the ACT, whilst within the NSW borders, is not really a part of NSW. I'm sure there's someone who played their first game in Canberra and went on to represent NSW, and rightly so, I feel.

Yes you are, and that's fine, as long as you can take the fallout...

But for heaven's sake, don't channel Rocky; you embarass yourself enough as it is!

Lote tuquri represented Fiji in 2000 and made his origin debut the next year.

i didn't say i had a problem with it, i'm saying that you can't say that Jason Taumalolo because he played for the junior kiwis shouldn't be allowed to play for QLD but then think its ok for Uate to play for NSW even though he represented another country.

FTR, apparently the new commission are planning to change the eligibility rules to also include where you played your junior footy and few other things that i can't remember off the top of my head...

They are going to. Can't find an article though but if you research it you'll find one.
