More defections.

Simple question. Why? Why does it matter that you have to be available for Australia to play for QLD or NSW? What difference would it make if a Karmichael Hunt was born and bred in NZ, but raised in QLD and plays for QLD and NZ? Could you argue he's any less Kiwi than Aussie? Could you argue he's any less a Queenslander than what he showed in Origin?

I think he's a great example of why the rules could be changed to cater for people who are just as proud of their adopted state as they are of their birth country. And why shouldn't they represent both?

Simply put, because SoO is a representative fixture. By rights, the Kangaroos are meant to be selected from SoO form.

Only IMO, it is akin to a person living in Australia for years and never getting citizenship. Claiming all the benefits from living in this country, without actually declaring allegiance to it.

I simply don't understand how somebody can declare passion and QLD pride, but not Australian passion and pride.

Each to their own. I know a lot of people who love Origin, couldn't give a stuff about Test.

If mal wants taulomolo for origin I pretty sure he wants Sam Burgess. I heard he had a big night out at Conrad Jupiters on the Goldie on the weekend. Qld better sign him up. Soon Afghanastan is going to be a part of Qld and Mal the big fool would be heading there to recruit talibans into the Qld team.

I bet you a million and one dollars that this is how Mal's conersation with Taomololo and co went down:
"Hi, it's big Mal. I see you played first grade footy in QLD. Are you interested in representing Aus/QLD?"
"No bug Mel bro, I'm a kiwi"
"OK, no worries, if you decide to change your mind and play for Aus and QLD we'll be interested to hear about it"
"Cheers Cuz"

You are an idiot, that is one of the most idiotic posts on here

NSW or QLD, doesn't matter. What I'm saying is, why is it ok for Victorian players to choose whether they want to play for QLD or NSW yet Kiwi players cannot

Because they are Kiwis.

And can't speak English properly.

Yes I am & most hated Broncos supporter.

I am going for the trifecta.

NSW or QLD, doesn't matter. What I'm saying is, why is it ok for Victorian players to choose whether they want to play for QLD or NSW yet Kiwi players cannot, unless they pledge their souls Australia first? These Kiwi's would know way more about what Origin is about in comparison to some player from Victoria who spent his whole life there. Doesn't it cheapen the concept if we have Victorians playing for NSW or QLD?

Victorians are still Australian last time i checked ... so that automatically makes them available for Australia... and Victorians still can't choose which state they want to play for, the rules apply to them as well (i.e where they played their first senior footy after the age of 16).

Speaking of Victorians, it appears any of their local juniors will represent NSW. Same with West Australians.
