From the outside looking in, its almost as though the broncos have a heightened sense of greatness and treat it like "if you dont wanna play for us, we arent going to chase you. we are better than that". obviously i could be wrong but thats just the feeling i get. we need to get in there and chase players. players wont wanna play for us if we have a superiority complex

I get that very same impression. The Broncos believe playing for them is a privilege and an honour...which yes, it is. But they need to sell that to potential players.

I heard a rumor that Sam Tomkins will come to the NRL, but not with the Warriors.

widdops average.

He has something Wallace/Norman/Hunt/Williams and co don't have and that's grand final experience and the experience of playing as part of what most would call the best spine in the game.

We've already signed two marquee halves in the past 6 months (Wallace and Prince) and have a third waiting in the wings (Hunt). :001_tt2:

On the recent market movements:

Thurston was never moving from the Cowboys. $1.5M a year wouldn't have bought him.

Norman's stocks will plummet at the Eels, away from home in a shit environment with the likes of Hayne, Sandow, Matua and the balance of the squad of made up of young generic islander players. A Jarrod Mullen type player, - all the hype, moments of brilliance - minus the "homegrown" protection of your junior club.

Widdop's stocks will plummet away from the firm of C,S,S & B. Good 6, would love to see him at the Broncs but not worth the $.

Dugan. We all know what happened there.

I remember hearing all these discounting reasons as to why it wasn't a bad thing we didn't sign Inglis as well.

His hip was fucked, his mind wasn't in the game, he's fat, he's lazy, etc etc.

i think it's just a defense mechanism for some people to playdown someones ability when they're no longer joining your club.

In no way am I comparing Inglis to Widdop, but the attitudes of some are similar.

Widdop's motivations couldn't possibly be about a desire to play for a prestigious club - he just left the Storm, and they would be devo'd he's going.

Time for the big $$$

You are still missing the point.

the point being we arent signing anyone? yet to see anyone mention someone worth signing...

or the point being that because we havent signed someone the club is just sitting around twiddling thumbs?

Cognitive dissonance?

True to an extent about playing it down, but meh, Gareth Widdop.

Would anyone have Folau back. I sure would. On a long term deal not some shit 2year deal.

If he gets his passing game up to scratch then he could be as good as Ingliss IMO. He should be able to kick a ball as well.

"We're happy with Hodges, Reed and Copley and therefore are not interested in chasing Folau".

Besides, I remember reading the Suns blaming the Broncos for an longstanding ankle injury that the Broncos didn't treat properly - wonder if that might have turned his opinion of us slightly.
