That wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm not even sure who our current defensive coach is...Steve Michaels?

Re: Sack Griffin

I also meant to add that Griffin appears to have adopted the same mantra and is getting predictable results. As an organisation, the Broncos are quickly becoming a club that is a backwater both on and off the paddock.
Quite frankly, I believe the fans deserve better representation and certainly a more professional and progressive approach.
The brand is currently very daggy.

Re: Sack Griffin

Rugby league in general is becoming a dull sport. All teams are adopting this mantra of field position, possession, play the middle third. Get to your kick.

I miss the 90s. Brisbane, Canberra, Canterbury, manly, Newcastle dominating by outscoring their opponents, not being obsessed with stopping them scoring (although of course that was part of it).

When you'd play the Broncos, you would score 24 points but they'd score 40. These days, put 24 on Brisbane, you'll win.

Frankly I find the nrl largely boring to watch these days.

Re: Sack Griffin

A lot of those clubs you mention had a fairly ad hoc and off the cuff approach. The emergence of the mistake free / completetion / field position approach has made risk taking a sackable offence by the stat police.
Defences, and coaching in this area, slowing of the play the ball ( the emergence of the wrestle and its variations in defence ) have all contributed to thwart attack based / 'play what is in front of you' teams.
Dull and boring for sure and a very negative approach to playing the game.
In the old days you could exploit fat blokes or poor defenders - the players are all very samey now. Professional scrummagers used to get a start for example.
Crusher Cleal was a demon ball runner but a poor defender, yet he played for Australia.
Differences are good.

Re: Sack Griffin

He's (TC) a terrible coach to the poor young fellas, getting cranky and swearing at them. Might do well as an assistant coach for the Bronocs :P Just get him to swear at Macca for not being quick enough and swear at Griffin for not using his bench well.

Re: Sack Griffin

Sack everyone from the management down to the assistant coach. Let's call it a 'rebuilding year'.

Sign Tunza as defensive coach, Locky as attacking coach and I'm sure Wayne would come back if asked nicely. Go from there.

Fucking useless.

New coach

With the Broncos and Cowboys both in the hunt for a new coach, who's your choice?

Re: New coach

I really don't know. Outside of Bennett, Hasler or Bellamy, I don't think there is anyone out there yet who can influence a game on their own. For other coaches, your only job is really just not to screw up. Griffin has screwed up in a lot of areas.

Re: New coach

Well lets face it, there's no stand out choice waiting to be signed.

We'd have to look at coaches over in England (I don't follow that so I don't know who's good) or assistant coaches in the NRL.

If I was to name some assistant coaches it would be Jim Dymock or Kevin Walters.

Re: New coach

I don't have an answer either, but Griffin will not be our coach next year.

I also don't know what direction the club is heading in, maybe the rot goes higher up too?
