And I think Milford has the better kicking game as well. It should really be the other way around...

Milford is so lightning around that ruck area though, running off forwards. More-so maybe even than Barba in current form. I think Barba could step up and take a more organising role and play a bit of a running game off Hunt. Milford could still do some kicking.

Not saying it would be shocking. I wouldn't have too many issues with it, but I still think it should be the other way around.

No questions, the best team that's been posted is:

1) Barba
2) Hoffman (Oates depth)
3) Reed
4) Glenn

6) Milford
7) Hunt
8) Hannant
9) McCullough
10) Kennedy
11) Thaiday
12) Gillett
13) Parker

14) Granville
15) McGuire
16) Stagg
17) Dodds

I'm with you on that Porthoz. Thaiday to bench and Stagg left out.

Just because we signed the leading try scorer doesn't automatically guarantee success. The Dragons only managed a Grand Final appearance, 9th and a semi-final appearance from 1999-2001 respectively when Nathan Blacklock was the leading try scorer for 3 straight years.

Barba will definitely improve the team but we need to build the rest of the team around him and make sure we lay the platform and deliver clean quality ball to him.

100% Broncoman. Based on Foordy's stats a few pages back, Barba certainly knows his way to the tryline. It won't do much good though if we continue to let players like Segeyaro score some of the softest tries in the history of Rugby League against us. Barba may well score a boatload of tries but if we miss the finals or just scrape in, I'll still consider it a poor season.

My main concern going into 2014 is that our game plan will consist of being 'throw it to Barba' and not much else.

Without a change in the coaching ranks somewhere, this team will not be genuine title threats

The addition of Barba will help us heaps as will the hopeful signing of The Milf

But I feel that these signings will take us back in to the top 8 but probably only 5-8

Personally think we should play a more 'fluid' style, but we won't with Hook around.

Hunt is clearly a better player when he plays what's in front of him, rather than sticking to a rigid game plan.

The same could be said about Milford and Barba. I would personally be a fan of dumping the left and right side half system, and making Ben Hunt play first receiver all over the park with Barba and Milford interchanging between Fullback and 5/8th.

Would keep team's guessing and would keep the ball in motion, creating space.

Unfortunately, we will just revert to the rigid style of the last 2 seasons, 5 hit ups then a midfield bomb.

What is obvious to me is Hunt will need to step up and organise a fair bit more next season. McCullough will also need to step up in this regard. We should be planning on having plenty of set plays to take advantage of how quick Barba is while also taking advantage of Barba and Hunts ability to play what is in front of them. With the possibility of adding Milford into the mix we should be able to test every defence.

We seem to be rehashing the same thing over and over here, but Griffin would most likely stuff this up. He's given us no indication that he knows what he's doing. I wonder what is going through his head right now. Do you think he's going "Nah my plan's good. I have a good solid game plan that will win if we just get the right players." or "Shit shit shit shit shit, what do I do? I'll just leave it up to Kearney and Woolf to come up with the goods and I can just tend to the players well being."

Honestly? I think Griffin has a solid game plan in place for next year that he's been working on for probably 4 weeks or so. It'll be an entirely new style of play based a lot around Hunt and his ability to read the play. Throw Barba and Milford in there running lines with Hoffman out wide and I think we'll be a far better attacking side, obviously.

I think he'll get the players super fit with a whole new defensive structure in place.

Or, you know, he could do the same old shit and I'll just look like a complete imbecile.

I choose to think positive with an optimistic perspective.

I completely agree with scrapping the you do this side and he does that side game plan, it is way too predictable.

I think Hunt also has the ability to organize, not just read the play and we will see that after he has a full offseason.

If we stick with what works in attack we'll be fine in attack. Have Gillett running wide left, Thaiday wide right and Hunt first receiver. Milford support runs everything (if he comes) and Barba chimes in whenever he wants.

Hoffman can even have a roving commission if needed but I don't think it is. McCullough must play 80. Parker offloads whenever he can as he always does and Hannant/Kennedy/Hala pump up the middle all game. McGuire goes middle and wider, groom him as Parker's replacement when he is sadly gone.

The big thing for us is to get the defense and fitness right as mentioned. Get that right and we will win more than we lose even if we just play what's in front of us.

This is what I don't understand about Griffin, he seems like an old school type of coach so why isn't he coaching that way? ie ditch the split halves and play a genuine 5/8th with a HB

Prince and Hunt have been playing like that for at least the last 2 weeks with Prince as first receiver and Hunt playing a more traditional 5/8 role...
