Butthurt...would be fair though

can't agree on this . Why should tpas be capped, they are external to club contracts. Why should a player be limited in what he can earn outside of the game. Seriously, I don't buy into the tpa argument, if you are a player with profile, you will probably get tpas wherever you play. Do you think if Thurston played in Canberra, he would suddenly no longer be of interest to all of his existing sponsors etc. And I definitely don't get how everyone thinks they have a right to know the private earnings of sports stars, unlike politicians its not public money being pissed away by fat cats in a trough, they are private citizens earning a living and have a right to have their private lives kept out of public scrutiny, not to mention the potential team disharmony that would be created when everyone knows what team mates are earning.

There's one thing that's starting to bug me a little because it's happened a few times .. or maybe I'm just late to the dance .. but can someone explain to me why this pops up on zero tackle yet there's no mention of it on the Bronx site or the NRL site ??

EMERGING Newcastle backrower Joseph Tapine has been warned he faces the prospect of sitting on the bench for NSW Cup this season if he decides against signing a lucrative new three-year deal with the Knights.A tug of war between the Knights and rival club Canberra for Tapine’s services has intensified with Newcastle coach Nathan Brown understood to have made it clear to the former Kiwi junior international he will play hardball if the 21-year-old decides his future beyond the end of the season lies in the national capital.
Brown was reluctant to divulge details of his negotiations with Tapine other than to say he believes the youngster has enormous potential and has a clear pathway at the Knights.
Veteran Chris Houston was released by the club during the off-season with a year to run on his contract with a view to fast-tracking Tapine’s development.
“He is very important to us and we are obviously extremely keen to keep Joe here long term,” Brown said.
“I’ve sat down with him and his mum to make sure they are aware of exactly where he stands.
“We have made him what we consider is a very good offer for where he is at and we are just waiting for his manager to come back to us.
“We all want to have something done before the season kicks off.”
But the water has been muddied in recent weeks by the intense interest from the Raiders.
It is understood they have matched the Knights’ three year term but their deal is said to be worth considerably more money. And Tapine does have ties to the club.

HYPOCRITES!!!!!!

That's the funny thing about RL . Every single teams fans all say the other teams are cheats . I'm guilty of it too. Would anyone really watch it if it was even half as corrupt as we all make it out to be.

I just made my first post on the GH ... I was going to ask how long before it got edited by the moderator (because i gave them the cold hard truth), but it turns out that it must be approved by a moderator before they will let it be viewed publicly (i'm not sure if it is because i am a new member or not) ... so i doubt it will ever make it up onto the board.

here is my post

Firstly let my say i do have sympathy for you guys losing a player like Milford and a promising junior like TP. As a Broncos fan, I do feel your pain as we have lost plenty of players over the years, that we had developed but couldn't keep as they were offered significantly more from other teams to leave.

but i have to say that you are a bunch of hypocrites.

Right now, you are fighting to get Paulo and Tapine for 2017, both who are under contract in 2016. Tapine is also a player that the Knights really wanted to keep. This is the exact situation as TPJ signing with us.

you also recently signed Blake Austin from the tigers, BJ Leilua from the Knights and FPN form the Roosters all while still under contract to their clubs.

in the following times we have lost the following players (poached by other clubs), that we either developed entirely or at least had from a young age (like TPJ, since he came from Newcastle origionally).

Jayden Nikorima (that one really hurt)
Ashley Taylor (divided many Broncos fans, but the kid has talent)
Tariq Sims
Korbin Sims
Jordan Drew
Dale Copley (I so wish it was Reed that left - as a matter of fact, do you guys want him?, if so, please by all means take him)
Corey Norman
Gerard Beale
Mitchell Dodds
Jake Granville
Matt Parcell
Dave Taylor (although i tend to think we dodged a bullet, losing him)
Ben Hannant
Dunamis Lui
Antonio Winterstein
Dave Hala

I've probably missed a few ... but you get my point, many of those players we really wanted to keep.

as for the TPA's ... every single club does it ... don't act like the Raiders are the only morally superior club in the NRL. and if your club doesn't have the right management to take full advantage of that, then maybe they should get some new management... I've actually thought that Furner was dragging your club down for a long time, but i think you'll be stuck with him until he decides to leave on his own...
